My G20 doesn't connect to the internet, so how did the update get to my TV? Through the aerial? Does someone transmit the signal for Panasonic? Bit bloody clever eh?

Anyone know what the update was? Version 2.7xxx I think there is a search function now in the TV Guide, unless that was there before? And it might be my imagination but the SD picture quality looks better?

Over the air update, done via your aerial wink

Clever that. I know it's not important but I'm feeling geeky enough to want to know who transmits it?

'Update'...? Assume you get a message on-screen telling you something has happened?

I've bought a couple of Pannys in the last few months - P42S20 and L22X20 - and yet to see such witchcraft happening!

I know, it surprised me. Yes got a message pop up saying there was an update, I exited because it said it could take 40 mins and I was watching something, but it says you can do it in standby mode although I don't know how to do that. I forced it a bit later by going in to one of the set up menu's, might be worth a look.

Mine's a G20 if it makes any difference.

My 42V20 flashed up with that this morning. Left if running before I set off for work.

Anyone know what it does - so I know what to expect when I get home?

Still haven't established how it works - does Mr Panasonic talk to Mr Transmitter owner to ask that a stream of data is included in broadcasts for the next X number of days / weeks?

Intrigued by this - my previous TV (a 28" Sony CRT) had a menu showing software version and update available, but never once did to my knowledge - I was still on version 1.02 after 8 years of use...!

This looks useful, found in my search to find out what the upgrade actually offered.

So I rang Panasonic. The update is for BBC iPlayer functionality over Freesat and some updates to the TV Guide software, making it a bit faster apparently.

Shows that the upgrade was/is available this week, but what did it actually offer? I had a play around with the TV last night, and didn't spot anything jumping out at me screaming "I'm new"!

Is there an online list of new features / changes at all?

Ahh, got ya. Thanks for the info. Can't say the guide looks any more responsive, and iPlayer already worked on mine - at least it did the last time I tried it a few months ago.

I am constantly being asked to update the channel list though, which is a total pain!

Cheers, Bradders.

The software update takes about an hour and a quarter, have two g20's and took the same on both.

Didn't notice any difference afterwards.
