Another big thank you and hats off to Paul for organising a brilliant tunnel run. Had a first class navigator with me this time which made all the difference. Only managed to cross the river one more time by mistake. (Well, twice, to get back again, obviously.)
Hope the Teddy Bear run went well afterwards. My trip to Portsmouth to collect an over-partied son (students aren't just for Christmas you know ) was a good run. 200 miles and the car didn't miss a beat. It's a bit dirty now though....

Firstly thank you Paul for all the hard work and nice to see and say hello to some regular faces.
Regarding the above post... They do have a point.
I know these runs are started so early to avoid congestion but does it? Can it? does it get unbearable if we started it later.
I'm from the Midlands so need to ask the more local if it becomes grid lock,It always amazes me how quickly the traffic builds up at such an early time on a Sunday.
My opinion is that it's not good for the TVR image to gain bad publicity and if we can help by organizing a later start then it helps them and indeed helps the TVR brand name.
Of course this is PH and I wouldn't be surprized if some people's view might be Them!! And of course you are entitled to your opinion.
So is it possible to make peace? I was stuck in traffic all morning anyway

It does get pretty swiftly busy even on a Sunday.
As the Barbican tunnel is the only one with any population around it maybe it's best to exclude it in future and add a different one to the route instead?
Great day... sorry it spoiled the morning of others.
Excluding tunnels with population around it would also rule out Westferry Circus/Limehouse Link/Rotherhithe Tunnel (a Sag was damaged when an egg was hurled at it on the Rotherhithe approach) and if you're being that careful about things then the London Bridge tunnels/underpass would be out too as there are plenty of res properties on the southside of the tunnel. As the Barbican tunnel is the only one with any population around it maybe it's best to exclude it in future and add a different one to the route instead?

If memory serves, Barbican hasn't been on the route for the previous three or four runs.
Hi chaps..
Just a bit of input from a very experienced tunnel organiser.
Barbican/Beech Street is generally avoided on our regular London Tunnel runs, and only included on the very occasional smaller runs, and I always attempt to plan a route that passes through it only once, and no earlier than 9am if poss..
There have been some very bad local press in the past, and I remember it lead on one run a few years ago of residents standing in the tunnels with cameras taking photos of the noisy cars, and alledgedly logging numbers plates. This is not really desirable.
Saying that, I hope it was a good one, the TiTT runs usally are
(if anyone's interested, there's a Boxing Day run, message me for details)

The police rarely turn up for the hundreds of chavs who use Lakeside shopping centre as a race track/drift circuit every weekend, I doubt they'll be interested in 20ish adults driving around the city on a Sunday morning and behaving fairly reasonably. I do sympathise with the few residents that may be annoyed by it but they do live next to a main road in the capital city of the country, they would have more of a point if it was happening in a sleepy village somewhere.
Thinking outside the box a bit, but on the next one perhaps we could have a pit stop near the Barbican and invite the residents to look round the cars etc, in a friendly manor, as I am sure a few of them will be interested. Its not like they will be looking at a Citroën or Honda civic. And it may improve the relationship and may even improve the runs if we have the understanding of the locals

I think our event was just another nail in their coffin.... as Tunnel Running is now a big thing across many groups..... whilst we think we are behaving, if we are just another noise the residents are not going to distinguish........
Personally they have to accept where they live...... it's like my mate who used to live next to tube line, as much as he moaned about the tube, it was part of his life due to where he choose to live

Living next to a Tube line isn't really the same thing though....its pretty obvious there's a tube line when you view or buy....but occasional tunnel runs on a nearby road probably wont show up on a Land Reg search! I do see their point, really, but calling the police is way OTT. Lets just avoid Beech St in future, although I may have gone through once or twice on my own Personally they have to accept where they live...... it's like my mate who used to live next to tube line, as much as he moaned about the tube, it was part of his life due to where he choose to live
Driving thru the City is a right PITA now anyway with the blanket 20mph speed limit in force.
I got woken up by one of you coming past early, just before you met I'm guessing!! Was staying in the Holiday Inn on Silvertown Way, Canning Town. Had to grin though, wasn't at all annoyed!! Shortly after could hear all of you blasting away in the distance
I couldn't make it this time in the end as had taken the Cerb off the road when they started gritting, had hoped to come in my Audi Coupe instead as it sounds awesome in a totally different sound, but had puncture issues.
Will be there again next time though!
