I will be there too, but only if the weather is good.
No, not the usual “I only druve it in the dry”, but I have done the run twice in indifferent weather, and Sam and I would like to see the Peak District in decent weather for once. Sam is my border collie......he very much enjoyed the lake in the gardens in Buxton at lunch the first time whistle

The excitement is mounting: Thrills in the Hills is now just over a fortnight away and the countdown begins....

We expect to see an even larger turnout than last year's 100 TVRs, so it should be an awesome spectacle of colour and magnificence, not to mention the sounds of all those pipes echoing in the vales and over the Dales.

The Peak District is just starting to look its' late Spring/ early Summer best, the sap is rising, the views are fabulous and this is the ideal time to bring out your P&J and enjoy it as it is meant to be enjoyed! driving
QBee, let's hope the weather gods are as kind as they have been for the past week or so, and Sam gets to enjoy the wind in his ears!

You'll truly regret it if you miss this one, so see you all at the start on the 26th May.
Meet at Hassop Station car park DE45 1NW 1NW from 09:00hrs.
Don't forget to bring your dinner money ( Knight's Table buffet lunch tickets will be on sale at the start, price £9 per head ) and entry fee ( £3 per car, which gets you a map and "Thrills" sticker in a water resistant sleeve and also exclusive TVR parking at the finish point at Monsal Head. )
The correct change would be helpful! smile

P.S. 1 post in 96 months?

bow That's top lurking from Spikesloly there! Welcome! thumbup

Update....Sam may be spending the day with my daughter and her Labrador puppy, Millie.
Erin Dawes, to whom I am related by marriage, has said that she will occupy the suicide passenger seat, just as long as the organisers can dial up some nice sunny weather and not too much traffic.

Ok chaps?

THRILL in the HILLS 2018
SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION

1. HASSOP STATION – There is a 5km run starting at 8.30 am and finishing when we set off (!), so the station will be very busy and car parking possibly difficult. There is an overflow car park being opened and martialled. Please follow the martials instructions.

2. THE KNIGHTS TABLE – If you attended last year you will know we pack the cars in like sardines! Again, please follow martials instructions.

3. ASHFORD-IN-THE-WATER – Well Dressing takes place this weekend and is likely to be very busy where we turn up to Monsal Head. There are no road closures, but please take great care entering the village.

4. MONSAL HEAD – We have our own designated parking area. When turning into the pay and display car park, travel up the hill to the top and bear left, through an open gate and immediately left again for parking. It will be signposted.

The start location for "Thrills in the Hills". Saturday May 26th
HASSOP STATION CAFE, DE451NW....
Great news the 5k run that was going to take place here has been cancelled due to our event. Please try to arrive early as the drive must start at exactly 10:30am. After parking please make your way to the TVR payment desk. The café has a great breakfast menu if you get there early enough. The car park gate will be open from 9am. Weather forecast is very good. See you all there.

LUNCH VENUE, THE KNIGHTS TABLE, SK17 0SN. We have managed to get the entire pub and car park booked just for our event on Saturday. It is a large car park but it may take some time and patience to get us all in. If we still have any unsold buffet tickets left they can be bought here. We aim to leave here at about 2pm. http://www.theknightstable.co.uk/
The drive through Buxton just before lunch will split us up. This is to help ease the parking congestion at the pub. Thanks

FINISH LOCATION, THE MONSAL HEAD HOTEL DE45 1NL. This pub has some of the best views of any pub in the Peak District and is not to be missed. It is a Bank Holiday weekend and the car park will be full. We have reserved a field just for TVR,s next to the pub. You will need to drive through the large public car park and into the overflow car park. We have our own field next to that one....Great beer and great views.

It will be difficult to do a briefing on the day due to the large amount of people there so I will post some info here today, thanks.
MORNING RUN TO BUXTON.
Safety 1st everyone, the Peak District and our route has many blind bends. The stationary queue round the next blind bend could be a line of TVR,s. Be ready for the many cyclist, walkers, tractors, horse riders, sheep and tourists in the area.
We only have 2 re-groups before we reach the lunch stop near Buxton. One is our usual photo stop near Mam Tor at Castleton with the opportunity to get out. The other is a slow moving rolling re-group at Owler Bar ( check the map for Owler Bar.) Just follow the lead car around this very large oval area. ( we feel its important early on in the run that people are not separated too much at the back, we appreciate how far you have travelled to be with this group on the day ) We do have a turn point at the Ladybower dams so dont worry if you see 100 or more TVR,s going past you the other way. Great for photos and videos. Try not to miss the right turn at the end of this bridge...!!! Check the photo and map for the bridge

AFTERNOON RUN TO MONSAL.
We will try to leave the Knights table together. It will be a bit difficult to keep in one large group. Enjoy the lovely Peak District scenery and look out for the very twisty mini Alpine hill just after Crowdecote. We will not have our usual re-group just before Matlock Bath due to that re-group area being closed. But as we do our parade lap through Matlock Bath still make some noise for the 100,s of bikers.
I have had a request from some friends in the tourist town of Bakewell and the local paper who want to take photos. So hope you dont mind if we go into town and fill the town with TVR,s just before heading off to the finish at Monsal Head about 10 minutes from here. When you have gone round the town drive off in the direction towards Buxton on the A6 then follow the brown tourist signs for Monsal Head. Have a great day.

Hey, is this open to any TVR owners? Can I just tip up or do I need to register?
