Only a figure of speech honest guv.
You were absolutely flying round there in the afternoon session, the young turbo looked very impressive.

Don't forget the Rockingham Track Day in August, its filling up quickly, over 3/4 of places gone so don't sit on the fence too long.

Cheers All

Richard

Had a fantastic day. Really need some better seats in the Chimaera if I do any more of these, which I fully intend to.
I picked up a CGLock from eBay and gave it a first try yesterday, it worked very well it locks the lap strap part of the belt, you can also pull up on the shoulder strap to get it really tight a good compromise if you like the old seats.

Well thank you sir, I did seem to be travelling at a decent rate.

For those thinking along the lines of "must have had a zillion BHP", it is a standard 4.6 Range Rover engine (low compression, Range Rover cam and heads), running a tiny 2.5 psi of boost, which brought the power up to around 320 bhp, the level of a decent 500, no more.

Frankly, Cadwell isn't a power circuit, it has a lot more to do with handling, set up of the suspension, decent track tyres....and knowing the circuit. Those following me may have noticed that i went into Coppice without braking most times at around 105-110 mph. It actually came as something of a shock to me that the car would stick to the track and go round at that speed, but it does.

A couple of years ago I did a track day there with a Cerbera and a 2.9 S. The Cerbera was 420 bhp, I was 315 and the S was around 170. And we all went around in convoy - the power made little or no difference. The S driver was Mat Smith, before he took up racing, and he knows how to carry speed.

I forgot to mention they have stopped making them so it's a case of trying to get a used one.

Good idea Richard, I am already booked on it, as it looks like a real hoot.
The Cerb guys who started the ball rolling are a good bunch of live wires.

Cadwell is definitely not a power circuit (though it is always nice to have some), I barely went above 5000rpm so nowhere near the top end power - wherever that is in a car with over a quarter of a million on it so far. This track feels so much about confidence and progressive inputs especially in the wet. The driver of the BM M140 clearly had plenty of confidence as he (assuming a he) was absolutely flying.clap

Which one is Coppice? End of the bottom straight? If so I needed a smidge of brake if I was above 100mph as, on standard road tyres, I would come out too wide afterwards onto the 'dirty' bit of track up the hill.

Great day, as always. I cut mine short, for once, as I overestimated how much petrol I had left......

Yes, Coppice is the end of the bottom straight, and at over 100 you do need to turn in slightly later to apex later, or be on the wrong side of the track at the next corner, Charlie’s 1.

A later apex at 100 plus will put me on the green stuff, which is worse the the dirty bit of the blackstuff. smile
