You can hear the shrill of your revvi engine which is really weird compared to the sound of the RV8 that sounds like it’s at tickover at any revs biggrin They sound so slow lol.
You can hear the tyres screaming in some of those slow corners on that Chim. It’s faster than it looks even at granny speeds or without sticky tyres speeds are reduced considerably. Looking at the body roll it’s on nice road shocks by the look of it rather than more track focused stuff but I’m probably completely wrong thumbup
I am running 308 bhp but at 1.5 tons, switchable suspension and Triple 8’s. I believe Trevor’s 4.0 is running about 280? At about 1 ton. Trev is running Triple 8’s and Gaz Mono’s.

Both cars were excellent on track, cornered well and enough power to make it interesting. A great day, one of the best!

Hethal was a brilliant day as well Alun, loved it.

Many thanks for the suggestions folks, all gratefully received!

If anyone is going to this and would kindly offer me some passenger laps in exchange for coffee / bacon sarny tokens I would happily oblige!

My car had new pads and discs about 3k miles ago, but good suggestion to pack some more pads.

Need to do more planning, insurance, helmet, logistics for the day…might start a separate thread on that smile

I was a track day newbie in 2019 and I’d recommend booking yourself one of the free instructor sessions. Up until this date I’d never been on a track before but thoroughly enjoyed the day and just went around at a pace I was comfortable with whilst doing my best not to hold up everyone else.

You may also be interested to know that you can hire helmets at the circuit for £20 (if I remember correctly). Some insurers (Mannings?) include track day insurance, but I was with FJ and had to pay £60 to increase my cover.

Like many others, I'm sure, I wil be happy to give you a few laps in my passenger seat (I've been there a few times). As someone else says book some time with one of the instructors, I'm pretty sure it costs nothing on TVRCC days. Assuming Colin and Helen are the instructors they both have huge experince of TVRs, Cadwell, track driving in general and are used to people new to trackdays and won't 'encourage' you beyond you or your cars capability.

Don't worry excessively about your pads, i would expect you to be not driving at full chat on your first day and therefore not braking as hard as some of those travelling a bit quicker...

I will be there too, in this UFO, and happy to accommodate passengers.

So not too tricky to spot. Just come and ask if you want some passenger laps.
All drivers can passenger for free, and if you have brought any passengers of your own they can too.
I have done Cadwell Park about 10-15 times in the last 10 years, so have a fair idea where it goes next.

Good job Anthony! I’ve also booked.

I’ve only done Cadwell 5 or 6 times. More than happy to give passenger rides, not in a TVR but in an alternative. Heated seats if the weather is a bit chilly. laugh

Many thanks everyone, I may well take you all up on your kind offers to get some different perspectives…plus it’s good to get to know other enthusiasts!

Hopefully I won’t be too difficult to spot either.

Cheers
Andy

Please ask for a passenger lap, he needs some extra weight to offset the low down grunt and allow others to get passed.

Ironically, my car handles a lot better with a passenger on board, it seems to balance it better.
I am looking forward to being on track with the blue Tuscan again - last year was huge fun.

Looking at your profile Softtop, it's a shame you don't still own your Saab 9-5 - I still own two, and we could have brought our Saabs to give Phazed a (slim) chance of overtaking something getmecoat

Joking aside, I have enjoyed doing trackdays with Phazed for almost 10 years now, and it will be really good to be on track together again. I have missed our track days, and it is entirely my fault, as in my grey beardy days well past statutory retirement age I have suddenly been given a choice of a doing lot of work or very little, and have had to opt for the former, which is why I am at my desk at 6am on a Saturday.

Anthony, GIVE IT UP!

I know it is only for a short time but life is short and sometimes it can come and bite you in the rear!

On the plus side, I have four Track Days booked up starting on Monday at Snetterton and ending with this track day at Cadwell Park. That makes one every two weeks, sounds okay to me. Hopefully I will be well practiced by Cadwell!

Hi Trev. Are you doing Cadwell this year? It would be good to catch up.

Edited to add. I’m sure I was maxed out throttle wise! wink

That sounds like a well executed plan my friend. I do hope you enjoy them and don't break the car too many times.

Thanks for the kind words. No more than 12 months more handling other people's millions, and if we sell the house sooner I may be retiring sooner too. The squatters next door are well on the way to buying their own home at last. So plans are afoot.....
Ironically, I do enjoy the work, there's just too much of it right now.

Hi Peter, hope you are well. I'm not sure what I'm doing at the moment, I have been thinking about selling but haven't managed to bite the bullet and advertise the old girl yet so no doubt I will be there as usual. Will be good to have a catch up and who knows what I will bring, probably the motorhome. smile
