No - it actually weakens the main TVR forum .. there are few enough posts on here as it is.. frown
Know what you mean Rev. Trying to find a happy medium is always going to be hard. Wouldnt want to dilute the main TVR gassing forum but thinking that with what is going on with all the different marque ones now that it would be easy to find the events as they can be stickied in the one forum.
I think we may trial it see how it goes and if it doesnt work we can revert back!!

Why are some members of the TVRCC getting upset about this ??? Piston Heads listing TVR events... It strikes me that many of the major events started via PH or at least with individuals that spent most of their time on here and were also members of the TVRCC. I'm sure the first Chatsworth meeting started here (Kev correct me if I'm wrong, we were asked to put PH handles in windowscreens!!) , BBWF , BNG etc. also. The TVRCC love to adopt successful events !!!. May be I'm wrong, I stand to be corrected (by someone with a longer membership than me).
In my book the more the merrier...they seem to regard themselves as everyones betters over there...that's why I stay here.

PH is full of TVRCC regional monthly events postings ... should they be removed ??? I think they just like to bh because there's more going on here and we have a better class of person.... All of course in my humble opinion. biggrin

Dave, before you know TinTT will be a TVRCC event... The Blackpool Rally was a definite NON SUPPORTED TVRCC event, but by the time London Thunder came...things were beginning to change..and Thunder Ball had an RO table (or so I heard) !!!! ..biggrin

I hear you Keith, but doubt very much that the TiTT runs will ever be adopted by the TVRCC. I don't think it is a "club" type event, but that doesn't affect the fun that 150+ cars had last year. It's horses for courses, and i make no differentiation between those who are members and those who are not, or indeed those who drive TVRs and those who don't. I have met a lot of lovely people who do not own TVRs and probably never will, but are still enthusiastic about the marque. For me its about having fun and driving with like-minded people. That is why it can be organised independantly, but would probably not work for a car club.

I think the ex-workers were grateful to everyone who contributed towards ThunderBall, regardless. It was good to see members and non-members there, and i don't think that the ROs that were there were representing the club - they just wanted to join in, and good on them!

It's fair to say that the club admitted, in retrospect, that they should probably have done more with London Thunder, but they were not sufficiently "nimble" to react quickly. It all happened within 20 days of the initial idea. That was a couple of years ago though, and i am sure that the organisation must now be much more responsive to their members.

Out of courtesy, I did approach the TVRCC about an event that i was planning in the summer last year, to ensure that i was not treading on any TVRCC toes. I was thanked for that, and told that they would check with colleagues and get back to me. Unfortunately i didn't receive the returned call, despite a polite reminder. The event still went ahead, and all involved enjoyed their day. I am sure that this is just a reflection of how busy people must be running a full time job and a demanding position within the TVRC, but I don't think i'll trouble them again with any similar courtesy in future smile

Sory, back On Topic, there really is a need for somewhere to plan and advertise TVR related events on PH, but i don't think it will prevent duplicates posts on the other related fora.

We could include all TVR motorsport events both the Challenge and Sprint events, the more spectators we get the better

Anything which raises the profile of events is a bonus I think, irrespective of who organises them. And we should definitely highlight race meets which involve TVRs because to my shame I've not been to one yet, despite having a couple of tracks fairly local to me (and I could even walk to Donnington)

I tend to stick to the Griffith forum and poke around in the Chimaera and General Stuff occasionally which means its easy to miss a lesser publicised event.

If its jammed under my nose I could look there for something to aim for if I fancy a drive out or suddenly find I have a day out pass (Deb is going shopping LOL)

thats a good idea Phil,I`m supprised at the lack of support from tvr owners to be honest, you see loads out on a monthly meet/hoon, but hardly any in comparrison at the race meet, nothing better than a weekends camping and a few beers at a race meet.

With out opening up old wounds, you are correct about most of the above events, back in 2005 i arranged a national Tuscan weekend, via the Tuscan owners group, i asked for assistants from the club via my RO, a mention/advert in Sprint or maybe a financial contribution? The answer back was "we don`t support one model events" I took this as, because it wasn`t there idea, they did not want to knowrolleyes
Anyway i carried on, paid deposits, paid for tickets etc, the event wasn`t a huge success, and i ended up out of pocket by nearly £250.Since then i have had nothing to do with "the club" since, and i probably won`t again to be honest, i continue to arrange runs out for a hard core few, (mostly non members)and this forum would be a good idea.
This is the thread about the weekend i arranged, i felt if offered something for everyone, but the proof, as they say, was in the puddingbiggrin

Your post from the TVRCC website

"If PH lists all events in a TVR forum I feel it will have a huge effect on membership

As John says why join?
Ok you may get a discount on certain insurance or products but thats not what the majority join for.

Runs out and events - seems we have a problem here!

Have to say that this forum is not working for me frown Big organised events are fine, but small sunday runs just dont get the exposure. Shall continue to post these in the general section.

The problem is that it should be a list of events/dates/locations one post for each event no further postings... Trouble is people are just using it to chat about events which make it no good as a list of event. e.g. there is a post "is anyone going to RG on Saturday" well, maybe, maybe not but that is not an event. It may be about an event but it is not an event. All we need is a simple calendar style table with events posted, once in date order. Scan it down then post a thread somewhere on Pistonheads if you want to chat about it in more detail.

Agree RichB. I may as well not bother with local runs anymore. No one checks the events section. Then i get asked why i didn't post details. Hey Ho.
