Unfortunately the company 'Prime Resorts' that owns Park Hall Hotel, the venue for BBWF09 has gone into administration as of 3/2/09
Despite the reassurance from the Official Receiver that the venue for BBWF will stay open and any deposits placed on room bookings would be safe, do we take the chance and carry on with the plan to hold the Wedge Fest at Park Hall or look for another venue or take up FFG's offer and hold a joint event at Ettington?

For people like me, it's not too bad but I would worry for those travelling a long way and needing to stay over etc.

Difficult descision really , if you are going to pay over £150 for a room for 2 nights, you don't really want to lose it ! ( Although I'm booking in a hotel down the road that accepts dogs as well )

GG would also be a good event and last year a few of us attended this , allbeit in the rain. Mass gate crash yikes

As for another venue, it would appear to be difficult to find one that meets our requirements.

Starting to not look so good..

Joining the Growl is attractive but is there enough accomodation for us all ?

If not - then another venue perhaps..

Or an earlier date at EC.

I have no problem joining in with the Griff boys (and girls biggrin).
Though as Rev mentioned accomodation could be limited, as well the issue parking possibly 150+ Griffs & Wedges.
I can't see them giving up their entire car park?

Tough one.

I've reserved EVERY room so there is no other function/wedding etc so we do have the whole car parkl and on the grassy area if required (there's a ramp to get onto the grass so no issue there - unless the weathers st again).
Rooms are on first come first served basis so late bookers may suffer but I can't do much about that. We booked around 90 rooms last year out of the 125ish available.
PS I do have a Wedge (will be 2 in 10 days) so not just curvy.

If its tagged onto the GG it them no longer become the BBW but just part of a mixed TVR event

As quoted by flipflop, hotel only has 35 rooms left and there will be at least 70/80 rooms needed for the wedger's ????
Nothing against the Griff boy's/girl's but i would suggest another venue..

Well im not a gambling man but if there is going to be a prob with park hall which is a shame then will vote no for there.
As for joining the griff growel, well this may be a good idea for a mass gathering but it sounds like the place will end up a little short on rooms which would be a shame too and i cant see there been any problems joining another group of like minded trevers it still would be the BBFW with extras.
That only leaves the last option.... new location.... scratchchin
Ill go where ever it may end up chaps

Paul,
There was around 125 rooms from memory, although I need to check the paperwork (just checked and it's 113). I don't think there was an extension just a few rooms added/refurbed above the reception area. Stayed in one at the Growl.
I looked at venues with Gandalf but few tick as many boxes as Ettington.

Have identified a couple of possible alternate venues, and will research them tomorrow, in the meantime the poll can carry on running and then we can take the majority decision that is reached by Sunday evening and run with that.

Ever get the feeling banghead ????

P.S Off to the Lancs TVR meeting now to drown my sorrows drink

Stay with it Chedd thumbup How many hotels have you seen actually go under? Pay deposits by credit card and you/we can't loose our dosh? It's a tricky one I know so maybe keep the booking open whilst looking for a new venue.

Personally I do not agree with using the name BBWF with any joint event. Good God we will be calling it a TVRCC eevent next wink

PS. no offence to FFG and the Growlers intended they are a great bunch they support BBWF as we do the Growl.

Are you still thinking about the same weekend if another venue is picked? We came to BBWF08 last year - our first time and it was great. Really dissapointed that we wouldnt be able to come this year cause it coincided with the British GP (my weekend away from her indoors with copious amounts of beer thrown in!)

I was going to try to set up a convoy run with Blaine so that we could both pick up the pieces that fall off each others cars

If it is any other weekend count us in and for any help you might need

Cheers guys

If you pay by credit card its only spend over £100 that you can potentially reclaim. Not sure about less than a ton, presume you can't claim.
You're all mnore than welcome to come along to the Growl as is any TVR.
I've been to all the Ettington BBWF's and very enjoyable they are too.
When we we were looking at alternative sites many hotels seemed to fit the bill until you got nearer commitment time at which point the deals changed, ie can't do this or that, or the price increased. Ettington, as i'm sure you'll agree, is a very good deal for a secure, good quality hotel who are very accommodating to our needs. Shame some of the other Hayley Conference Venues aren't.

Joining up with the Griff fellas would be a good option.

As stated rooms at Ettington probably would be an issue.

Last year i travelled to the Derbyshire Dales on the friday and camped there for the weekend.

It actually made for a great weekend with no early starts and some great back roads down to the BBWF.

How big is your tent Rob? - Can we all get in? LOL

Seriously I like the idea of the venue being further North than Ettington
(albeit a very nice offer from the Griff guys to join them)
as it gives other Wedgers the chance to go who might not otherwise.

Having a roving venue each year would allow this and also other Wedgers the oppotunity
of organising the event, and putting their slant on it, and the onus isn't on just the same
few dedicated individuals each time.

Richard

PS A rumble thru Blackpool has also got to be a big bonus

I agree with Richard. It would be good to have it a little further North (The beer's much cheaper and I'm going to owe him a fair few pints!).

I'd still be up for a run to Ettington to gatecrash the GG though.

Well if i leave the jacuzzi and disco room out i should be able to squeeze a few more in no probs.

North sounds good to me also as i to am all for cheaper beer and the southern convoy puuting some good mileage on there fair beasts.
