As most of us are aware, the venue that had been chosen for BBWF09 has run into financial difficulties and is now with the official receiver, as a result of this Carob and myself have been researching an alternate hotel and Carob has found a real peach of a venue http://www.devere-hotels.com/our-hotels/herons-rea...

We had a meeting with them yesterday and not only are they fans of the Marque but have been really helpfull in what they are prepared to offer with regards to facilities and areas we can use, on that basis we think it best to cancel the arrangement with Park Hall and proceed with Herons Reach at Blackpool.
The room rates that Carob negotiated are very fair starting at £65 per room including breakfast, they will also provide us with an evening barbeque at £18 per head, (menu is outstanding)
We also have our own private bar, meeting room with overhead projector etc F.O.C
The room rates will work on a sliding scale though, the longer you leave it to book, the more expensive it will be (approx £20ish) as it is handled by an outside agency.

We will post up the full details once everything is in place next week along with the promotional code etc.

A big thanks go to Carob and his other half for making the trip to Blackpool from Newcastle yesterday. clap

Edited to add the datelaugh Dates are the same as before;
Early Birds= Friday 20th June
Main Event= Saturday 21st June
Rumble down the Prom Sunday 22nd June

As Tony has said the venue is great in every sense.

The Luxury Barbecue menu is as follows.

A selection of baked breads,

Traditional cumberland ring sausage and caremlised red onions

Aberdeen Angus fillet buger fried onions and swiss cheese

Chicken satay

Salmon fillet with pesto

Hot jacket potatoes

Tossed green salad

Tomoatoe and red onion salad

New potatoe and chive salad

Pasta salad with provencale olives

Coleslaw

Cucumber and mint salad

Variety of dressings and dips

Fruit kebabs with curaco creme fraiche.

I think you will agree that is a great Barbecue menu.

Payment details to follow.

Thanks

Rob

Well done again Boys (& girls?)

Great venue and near enough to the M6 to make it reasonable from any part of the country and also Scotland

The added advantage of it being the birthplace of our P&Js is yet another bonus

Just waiting for the promo codes so that I can get my booking in
and already twitching in anticipation of the Wedge Rumble down the Ballackpool Seafront

I'm sure this will be well attended (despite any recession) and certainly one to remember

Once again Well done to Tony and Rob for getting on with this

Cheers beer

Sounds good, I'll call them up later and see if they accept animals or the nearest hotel that does

My LeMans has now also been confirmed, so not sure what car I'll be taking up as Wedges is waiting for spodulies for SH rear shocks or AVO rebuild old ones !

As for the WSV which has been to the last 4 or so meets, time has come to sell her, so if anyone may be interested in her let me know. If you don't know what the WSV is then you won't be interested !

Hi Richard,
We have confirmed with Herons Reach for BBWF in June and should have the promo codes before Monday to enable direct booking with the Hotel, Carob and I have tried booking through the agency but the room rates where all over the place.
It has taken a little longer to get organised than expected, due to the Events Manager being on holiday.

Direct booking with the Hotel will give us a rate of £90 for a double/twin room with breakfast, a little more expensive than Ettington Chase but unfortunately it is the only venue that meets our requirements, it may be possible to get a cheaper rate through agencies nearer the time but I personally would not like to take the chance, as it is a fabulous venue and quite popular.

Will give you all the 'heads up' soon shout
