Trackday 22nd March - Snetterton
Discussion
Hi Guys and Nicky!
Had a great day at Snetterton last Monday, it was with MSV - but beware they noise tested everybody before being allowed on circuit .
Now, I don't know if this is Snetterton in gerneral or implimented by MSV but I failed badly!
Rev to 5,200 RPM and registered 107db, limit is 105db! So I tell the guy it's not a problem and disappear to fit my track day silencers. I come back and the tester tells me I'm not allowed any overhang from the back of the car over 150mm - my silencers were about 240mm. I gave him my "puppy dog eyes" and started to cry uncontrolably, he then makes a call to the management for a second opinion, they give me the all clear but stated next time it won't be allowed! He tested and it registered 94db - but I only rev'ed to 4,500 rpm
Even with the track day silencers friends said I was by far the loudest car! I'm running cats with sports exhausts.
Just thought you might like the "heads-up" before you get there.
Si

Ooooh, thanks Si . Glad you had a great day - I look forward to hearing tales of great skill and daring
Good to have a heads up on the noise stuff. Not much more I can do at this point, so will take my silencers along as well and practice that puppy dog eyes thing, but not sure I will pull it off as well as you
Maybe I'll have to choose the right top to wear instead Yes, yes, just kidding before you start with your quips!
'I' can hardly hear my Cerbera now that I've put a standard back box back on, so I hope that I can get on without silencers.

Good Luck and by the way, low slung top always a winner Good to have a heads up on the noise stuff. Not much more I can do at this point, so will take my silencers along as well and practice that puppy dog eyes thing, but not sure I will pull it off as well as you

I was worried about noise testing last time at Snetterton. I believe the limit is 105 dB static. I've got the Silverstone Performance exhaust and I passed easily last time. The tester said I only hit 101 dB, which surprised me; might even get into Brands Hatch! (think I revved to 4-4500 ish)Good to have a heads up on the noise stuff. You should be fine with standard back box on. Just remember, when they ask you what the red-line is, be...conservative (6K?)and you won't have to rev it too high. And try to avoid pops / bangs during testing!
Best wear the right top though just in case
Looks like good weather. Can't wait!
Hi Guys,
Should be there to watch you tomorrow. I will be with camera to practice for the Dunlop TVR European Challenge as I will be helping George Carter out this year. If I need to be with someone to get in as a spectator can someone vouch for me please?
Mal (RO TVRCC Herts and Beds) with be in an Audi A6 aircraft Carrier (Avant) so wont be joining you on track.
If you promise not to wave as you go round and I dont make a complete nonce of it I will post the piccies in photbucket.

Although i'm not sure it would take to long to learn my secret...... its called shutting your eyes and hoping!
I see you still adopt the same driving ethics as belting down the A2 at 2 in the morning .... Might pop along.... pop my head and say
Mike
Well, I made it home to Kent, without 3rd gear.....which interestingly now seems to engage reverse
Certainly concentrates the mind on your gear choice. Had a couple of moments when I nearly selected 3rd / reverse at about 50 mph! Thanks for everyones help sorting out my more minor problem earlier
Enjoyed the day thoroughly though; great to see / meet you all there. Shame about the over-zealous noise-testing / camera-police Seems to be a theme of MSV tracks these days.
Pleased to see that Nicky was not only overtaking people but melting her tyres!!
Hope you got the misfire sorted out Mike and hope Graham's problem easily sorted....and that the rest of you got home uneventfully!
I shall now search 'gearbox problems' and try to work out what the hell's going on

Oh, and I forgot to say that you may have heard my horn sounding continuously as I left the circuit....
This was not an exuberant farewell from me and my brother; the horn came on as I went over the bridge and would not go off again, despite me aiming for several more bumps in the hope if jolting whatever loose connection was causing it and pressing all the other buttons
The stragglers at the car-boot sale next door seemed most amused as we scrambled under the front to disconnect the offending horn
You gotta love 'em
Any ideas how to fix it before my MoT?

Glad you and Chris got home safely. I'm kind of sorry I missed watching/listening to you leave - very amusing by all accounts! Certainly concentrates the mind on your gear choice. Great to see you both . Oh and thanks for the 'plug'! I had a ball yesterday! Heres to many more!
Which one do we all fancy next then?
Oh and btw, Javelin have some pictures up now. Have seen one of everyone on track - particularly good one of a red MX5 about to be devoured by a menacing looking yellow Cerbera!
Edited to add link to pics: http://javelintrackdays.co.uk/jt/index.php?option=...
I didn't take many pictures with my camera, but I believe that between everyone there should be some coming .
