Hi John - Bring the wife's Tamora (?). You got a www.dirtworker.co.uk so you're the subject of envy at Zolder next year?
Linda's Tamora has had more track use than we would both like so we'll pass. Its a logistical nightmare too getting home from Anglesey, unloading the race car and getting back to Cadwell!!
We'll be taking a more track suited S Turbo to Zolder next year so maybe the subject of envy without a dirtworker! Thought it was something rude till I opened the link!!

It's the FULL circuit that has been booked.
I certainly hope so, I was looking forward to doing "The Mountain" and wooded section, the email i got last week shows the short track highlighted ? TVRinBFG said:

My questions:
Is helmet hire avaliable? If so how much is it?
Is tuition avaliable? If so how much and for how long?
Is there anything organised for people staying the night before - eg special rate at any specific hotel?
Anyone know if a de-catted car on standard cans will pass the noise test? Currently running on CCC but was going to de-cat after MOT and hopefully just put standard cans back on for track days.
Really looking forward to this - did the wet day this weekend and cadwell looks like an impressive track and this day is good value.
My details for table:
Tuscan Mk1 4.0 5 track days, but none in TVR No Cadwell track experience

I beleive that tuition is included, I don't think that it is charged for but that as this is a TVRCC event it is included in the total cost of the day. This makes the £150 for the whole day look like excellent value, as I paid £140 for 1/2 day track day at Rockingham last weekend, plus an additional £25 for tuition. By the way, the tuition was well worth the money IMO, as it was my first car trackday, and also my first time at Rockingham.
Hotel accomodation:
There are a few of us staying at http://www.keddingtonhouse.co.uk/index.html
Seems to be very reasonably priced, I've not stayed there before.
Noise:
I'm not sure. Im running Cerb 4.2 with new CATS and sports back box and just crossing my fingers.....
I'm sure that you will love Cadwell. I did Rockingham like you last weekend, and whilst Rockingham is a very interesting and technical track, Cadwell is just as technical but has much more elevation changes, and when driving throught the tight "woodland" section, it really is like blatting down one of your favourite country roads, only better surfaced and one way Not having driven it in a car before, I'm sure it won't be quite the brake killer that Rockingham was. There are a few heavy braking points (e.g. end of Park Straight; going into the chicane (if we do this) or the bottom of the Mountain section, but nothing like the repeated braking from high speed like R'ham.

Hi Mike, thanks for the heads-up.
This trackday is run by Bernie Hartnett & Ian Bannister as a yearly event and as such I have no involvement (this year anyway) with the organising of the day but I am more than happy to answer any questions I can and will get answers to those I can't.
As mentioned, despite the advert it is the full circuit, which is exceptional value for the money. Noise limit is 105db which is reasonably high, but without testing your specific car beforehand I wouldn't like to say whether it will pass or not. My Griff with sleeved exhaust but all cats passes even the 97db limit, but a de-catted Cerb will struggle at 101db without additional silencers.
As for helmet hire and tuition, I believe both are available but I will check the details and update this post when I have it. Any others questions, please feel free to ask here, the TVRCC site or email me on the address Mike has given.
I am hoping to be there on the day but I'm competing at Prescott the day before so logistics may not allow.

Don't normally have helmets avaiable for hire. Tuition is free.
I'll get that confirmed, but if I can make the day I have two spare helmets.I would definately be after a helmet, Slacey any danger I can rent one of your off you - I have a medium head! PM me if this is possible.
If not where does one go to rent a helmet - I have considered buying one but I was told cheap ones are not worth it but others are mega bucks - not worth it for me a 3/4 days a year max.
If you're keen on track daying and maybe do at bit of indoor karting, I'd say buy your own. You can buy a helmet from a motorbike shop for £50 up. You know it hasn't been dropped ever or thumped against a rollover bar, so you know it's going to work and fit properly; and it should last 3-6 years or more. Helmets are a bit like underpants, do you really want to rent something that somebodyelse has been sweating profusely in?

I was under the impression that motorbike helmets were different - they are designed for one thump and a scrape but cars ones are more for repeated thumps (techy speak!!)I was told £200+!!
Will investigate further!

Good post to link to the article. My understanding is that the main difference between motorbike helmets and car helmets is the fire-resistant lining. As a biker, I have had a succession of "lids" - and I must confess that I have now owned 4 Arai helmets as I find that the superior quality is worth the money. I think that you can get a decent motorbike helmet from about £100 upwards, with Arais starting at approx £200 - I paid about £300-350 for mine, but they are the top of the range motorbike helments.
I suppose for dedicated car use, you would be better off with the fire-resistant ones, but I don't know how much these would be - I'd imagine at the higher end of the price range.
For occasional use on the occasional TD or karting, then going for a £50 - 100 bike helmet is the obvious choice for such infrequent use. OK it might not have the fire resistance of the more expensive lids, but that's your choice. You need to weigh up what risks there may be, and what the helmet will be primarily protecting you from. Lets imagine what may happen: most track days - you should be fine and not have an accident; if you do come off the track, perhaps you'll not hit anything too solid (fingers crossed - but this is why most tracks have run off areas) but you could be "rattled arround" in the car - therefore you need a helmet to protect you from hitting your head on the roof (especially if you have a Cerb with the integral roll cage!); next worse scenario - you hit another car of come off the track and hit a tyre barrier - you will need prtection from hitting your head on the interior of the car - which a budget bike lid should do just fine. It's only when you get to the very worse possible scenario, lets call that the "Nikki Lauda" - where you woudl need fire resistance properties - where you are trapped in the car on fire.
Only other point to note with helmets is look after them, as dropping them onto a concrete floor can be enough to warrent throwing it away and getting a new one. They are designed to absorb impacts, but only once!
Hope this helps......

I won't drag this OT but thanks for the info - been searching and lots of people adement you should spend lots - interetsing when I have always rented them before (doubt I rented top of the range helmets!) and fireproof is interesting idea when most people wear jeans and long sleeve T-shirts!
I will probbaly be looking for a £50-£100 helmet. TBH the value of this day means I can justify a bit of money towards it without crying!

I have a V2 Sport from here - www.v2sport.com
Excellent lid, fully compliant to the latest MSA regs and fireproof too. A few other sprinters I know have them and all are happy. More than worth the money IMO but looking at the website currently out of stock. Well worth a phone call though to see when the stock will be in. If you don't manage to source a lid, you are welcome to borrow one of my spares - they are well looked after - and clean!
