I'd like to see a track type thing with lap times, kinda sprint or time attack format, as throwing in some corners would make a change, not fussed what turns up, but we all would get a sound thrashing if the 10 of the best crowd turned up! So at least a TVR based class would be more competitive.
yes

somewhere with lots of high speed/low speed corners and not so many straights wink

I would say Any TVR only, regardless of spec/mods etc. If you have the right venue, noise not a problem, and all day usage, I would suggest the following:
¼ mile run
½ mile run
30mph to 100mph run [ IMO this gives a real world measure of your car ]
Handling course, i.e. a timed run over a marked course, from point A to B, with as many variations of corners as poss.
Area cordoned off for “showboating” [ for the posers smile ]

Any of the above optional, take your pick.

What about a disused airfield? Then you can do drag runs down the strip say in the morning, and then set up a sprint or time attack course in the afternoon. Plus with a airfield track you don't generally have to worry about bending your P&J on some barriers!
My vote goes to this this option.
+1

Hi Ash, long time no hear!

Cream was great and have been longing for such an event again. I'm baised to the Cerb only thing as it'll be unique like Cream rather than just another gathering of TVR's.

Track day with additional high speed strip would be good, again like Cream. Would prefer it to be on a proper track though rather than an airfield.

Anyway, just a few of my thoughts for the time being.

Si
+ 1........Cream with just the Cerbs was brilliant.......a repeat of this would be just fine by Mewoohoo

There is an article in Evo this month arguing that the best measure is terminal speed rather than acceleration. So how about that or how about the standing mile as per the Cerb drag test and compare standard cars, tuned cars and bdised cars ;-)

A well setup cerb is a great circuit car, however I would be a bit concerned that a will waving, testosterone fuelled, points to prove, track day could result in the remaining number of cerbs that are still on the road piled up in a big heap on the first corner! I would vote for drag race as first choice and probably easiest to organise, or maybe a sprint?

Ash! If this ends up being TVRs only what are you going to do? As your bdo children are not really TVRs! heheopens can of worms and runs for it!

If on the other hand we're allowed to class our cars as TVRs cause they have the badge on the front but say have an LS lump for an engine! Can I bring mine?

LOL

you can bring your SLR baiting ZR1 along, as long as you get shot of that tractor leaf-spring rear setup! biggrin

TVR's are TVR's, before the speed 6 and the speed 8 engines came along, engines came from others right? so why ruin a custom that has been around since TVR's birth.... and having heard from others, these conversion TVR's seem to be awesome cars and I'm sure EVERYONE would love to see and hear them in the flesh!

We could look at something like a morning and afternoonof slalom courses + tracking.... and then in the evening we could take do some high speed runs and like you say, grab the terminals instead....
I think launching in a TVR, regardless of tune is never going to be as sorted as big yank tanks and the likes.... so yeah, I'm up for terminals... we'd have to keep to 2 cars, insurance of such events can be a little arsy about every joe-bloggs racing together to top speed... I'll check with the informed though...

The reason for this thread is for all of us to collectively decide on the format of the event. Then I will be in touch with certain individuals to locate a venue which will provide us an adequate setting for the format. Then its just a matter of getting a booking in for a date which we all can collectively *roughly* agree on.... and then work out the costs and ticket prices....

But 2010 is the planned year.... preferrably around late spring to early summer...
