idea wanted

I've been thinking about this for a while, and haven't come up with a good idea, so i throw it open to the masses.

I was trying to think of some way that a car and driver can signify to the others that he has SatNav and/or knows the route and is "safe to follow". I know that there are a few of you who are a little concerned about getting lost in London, and we always hear stories of cars following the driver in front, only to discover that they are lost too. Now, when i was a tunnel-running rookie, this was always part of the fun, but we have people travelling a long distance and i wanted to try to ensure that everyone gets to see the full route, in noisy company, and gets back for an Ace breakfast.

I have been thinking along the lines of a sticker on the rear of the car, or some whitemasking tape in the shape of a cross? It has to be cheap, simple, easy to apply and remove without damage, and something that anyone can lay their hands on.

Come on guys... what can you come up with?

You could hold aloft an umbrella tour guide esq smile

I do remember my first run when every body disappeared in separate directions as they had a different route plugged into their sat navs
I got separated from the group when i needed a comfort break and only caught up again at the regroup in at Battersea Park

Actually dave your idea of some tape seems as good as any

Think some cheap tape in a cross or TT is a good idea, or get some vinyl letters for TT if someone is feeling posh!

Or a flag or something fluttery tied to the radio antennae or similar? Possibly something luminous but obviously legal to be easier to spot. Or on constant ambers all night hehe

David,

Sounds like a great idea, I have felt really uncomforatble when I've had 10 cars following me and I
haven't had a clue where I'm going.

The sign / signal should be removable temporarily if the "trusted" driver becomes disorientated.

Can I have a "definately not to be followed option"

I'll take that as a Yes.

No sign required really, if you recognise the number plate you're on a mystery tour.

My idea is for people not to follow the red chim with viper stripes like last year. I must have had a dozen people thank me for getting lost, most said "because of the stripes we knew you were on the run".

A simple white X on the back is enuff.
