Watching a Poirot on TV and it got me thinkning about the locations being used. Mostly art deco and many identified on Google but the building used as Scotlad Yard has got me stumped. Anyone got any ideas? scratchchin

They usually use the original old Scotland yard which is at the end of Victoria embankment at Darby gate just before Westminster bridge. I've seen that used in a few programmes but not sure if that's the one you mean.

That's the one, thanks! In all my years in London, I didn't realise that building was still there. I guess it is tucked away a bit but I just assumed New Scotland Yard in St James's was built on the site of the old one. smile

I was watching the Alfred Hitchcock film "The 39 Steps" the other day and noticed that the police chasing Hannay were operating from a building called "New Scotland Yard".

So, if they were already in "New Scotland Yard" in the 1930s, is the current Scotland Yard really "New New Scotland Yard"?

Ah ha trust you Eric but actually you raise a good point! wink Perhaps the original Scotland Yard was in Bow Street, hence the name "Bow Street Runners"?

Ah, so the new New Scotland Yard is more or less on the site of the original Scotland Yard in St James's...
