We were chatting about this earlier - can you think of any female characters that take on the Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers type roles? One where the "bad person" is actively seeking victims rather than being someone fighting them off or being "possessed" by evil and killing against their will?

I was thinking Pamela Voorhees might count but was she just bit unhinged as a result of what happened to her son? Sadako

You have characters like Annie Wilkes in Misery but she's more of a crazed fan than a cold-blooded mental-case... can you think of anyone that fits the "female movie monster" description or a truly scary female character?

I think there has been a few in the past ten years.
Wasn't Megan Fox one? And that girl with teeth down there.

I think there are too many stereotypes both amongst viewers and Hollywood marketers for them to make a female bad guy.

Often a female 'bad guy' will be more subtly monstrous and use a different approach. A good example would be that Nurse in 'One flew over the Cuckoos nest'

Watched that a few weeks ago when it was on...she was very very good. A real chiller, not like some of the crap you get today.

Species (can't remember the actresses name).

Women from new Battlestar Galactica.

The queen in Aliens 2 was a pretty badass girl, but it took a lass to kill her...you bh.

And the two best baddies in computer games have been 'women':
Shodan
Glados

I think the scariest thing about Kathleen Turner is how she looks now.
I mean we all get older but hells bells...
