thats a bit dark for the Simpsons! - more like a Family Guy lineActually it's from the credits of the film, they obviously went through their book of banned gags when they made that.
I like the joke mainly because they went to an extreme with it and it did sum up the Burns/Smithers relationship.
Some of the later episodes do have some really properly funny material in them, it's just hard to remember because they aren't on very often.

Episode on last night, a very young Bart is being taught to read and write, and he has the Itchy and Scratchy learn to read book. The title of the book is "They read, they write, they read they write they read"
