Showed my Daughter my favourite line this morning, straight over her head:

What is it?
Tramampoline

Please, don’t bring home anymore old crutches!

Could just watch that bit over and over, but love the whole episode!
Me and my dad love that bit. Earlier this year, in fact, I took great delight in seeing a free trampoline show up on my Facebook marketplace feed. Naturally I sent him a screenshot of it, with the words "OH MY GOD!" - he replied "tramapoline!" hehe

It’s great the elements of life that have been influenced by the Simpsons.

Everytime I park in car park and have a passenger:

‘Now remember, we’re in the itchy lot’

More often than not it falls on deaf ears and you just get a weird look but it's so worth it for that one other weirdo who gets it.

"You'll have to speak up I'm wearing a towel" is one that I'd love to use but the opportunity or balls to do it has yet to come up...

I'll admit to having to search for this on YT as it's one that has passed me by but it's pure old skool Simpsons and exactly what's been missing from it since the late 90's.

They try but they never quite get there as the current writers would never think to make Homer mispronounce it a second time and then go in again with the crutches line from Marge along with the bits from Lisa and Bart in-between.

They'd just go with Homer shouting "OMG Tramampoline" with him then running out of the house...

You can really see how they properly worked through it back it when it was at its peak when you break down a scene like that.

The first 10 seasons or so were absolutely golden.

They had proper writers back then and they cared, they wanted to create whereas now it's just about putting them out regardless of quality, hence Zombie Simpsons...

...shame because when you look at something like South Park you can see how something can last when it sticks to its core.

Interesting you mention South Park. I think it has actually changed quite a bit over the years, but still find it can churn out some very good episodes. I still watch every new Simpsons episodes. I don't think I have rewatched one that was made in the past 15 years though. Shame.

I consider the peak to be between 3 and 8. 9 and 10 were still decent but there was a noticeable dip then after that...forget it, burn it.

Depressing to think just how much dross there is in comparison to the gold now.

The bit where the nuclear plant is having a safety inspection. Homer is in a van containing a simulation of his control desk. He presses a few buttons and the van goes into 'meltdown' and sinks into the ground!
Oh and the bit where superintendent Chalmers buys an old Accord, and someone steals the H logo off the front.
Chalmers and Skinner are prising the H off a Hyundai to replace it when Nelson shouts "Hey, get away from my car"

From what is one of the best episodes ever - You Only Move Twice

Homer - "You any sugar around here?"
Scorpio - "Sugar? Sure, here you go"
Hands Homer loose sugar straight out of his pockets
Scorpio - "Sorry it's not in packages"
Scorpio - "Want some cream?"
Homer - "Eyyyerrrr Noooooo..."

Albert Brooks who voiced Scorpio was criminally underused by the Simpsons writers, the majority of Scorpio's lines were just him ad libbing with Dan Castellaneta having to do the same in response which is why every interaction between Homer and Scorpio is so good!

Homer undergoing some tests on the Mulder and Scully X-Files episode - they put him on a treadmill.

Mulder to Scully: what's the purpose of this test?

Scully: no reason, just thought he could do with losing some weight. His. Jiggling is strangely hypnotic.
