Saw this for the first time last night, 1) it's dreadful and 2) felt quite sad for the bloke at the end, he seemed a decent enough fella.
Seemed switched on enough to accept that it was a 50/50 thing and his luck was out. There will be a chav who believes they will win it who won't......and that will be great telly.

Just about, 2 hours queuing to get in while they registered the contestants, then went in to the arena and had a £4 burger and £3 drink.
Then they had to set up the arena for the 1st event (Jedward) then after that they had to rig up a drag strip for the hurdling on cars.
After that had passed we all had to go outside and film the fortune cookie bit.
The winning folk then had to go sit on the black and red bus to get their picture took, interviewed and arrangements for the next set of games, which was in Newcastle the following week.
We left Wembley at 6.30pm and made it to Standstead airport at 8.20pm, traffic was horrendous!
Our gate closed at 8pm but fortunately thr nice folk at Easyjet let us on as we only had hand luggage.
That actually sounds like utter hell. I honestly cannot think of anything worse. Then they had to set up the arena for the 1st event (Jedward) then after that they had to rig up a drag strip for the hurdling on cars.

Now i believe there's talk about stripping the first winner's prize because of a criminal record. Never understand this rabid desire to strip ex-cons of new winnings after time served.
Completely agree, he's served his time, so shouldn't continue to be punished. Typical British mentality though, we love to look down on everyone from our Ivory Towers.matc said:

To be fair though, he apparently beat up a woman, served only half his time and then got chosen to appear on a game show, think maybe what most people would think is surely they could have picked a more deserving contestant in the first place.C2996 said:

But WTF has that got to do with it? If they let him play, and he wins, then that's it. Oakey said:
Do the balls on roulette wheels in casinos behave like that?
No, roulette balls are much heavier (relatively) than that beach ball they're using. The lighter ball gets knocked about by the slots much more than a normal roulette ball.Adds to the excitement (and consumes another 60 precious seconds of 7 million peoples' lives, until the time is right for them to consume another advert.)

My mum watched it and, bless her, told me it was live. Oh, really I asked? So you mean they went to all the 1000 contestants homes and made a little film about each of them just so they could show the films for the few surviving towards the end? Or was it more likely a setup from the beginning?
Neither. The early rounds are filmed weeks/months ago. They then have their final eight who they can do their documntaries on.
