There was a 6 part series in the mid 90s IIRC which featured 6 rally drivers, and each week they drove another persons usual car and then totalled the times up. The trouble is Summer Glau is the kiss of death for just about everything that she has been in. Several Cybill possibilities, but The Major, Manuel and Basil would be very, very difficult to get right and likely to upset us oldies.
They have tried to remake Fawlty Towers three times I think, all sucked. There is no point on recreating perfection (or as near as it can be), you should remake the crappy/dodgy ones that never really concluded themselves, BSG being a really good example of taking some ham and turning it into a delicious steak.
An update that isn't out of time with current mems is also good. That's why The Sweeney woyuldn't work now methinks.

You mean, rather than a faithful adaptation of the books, you'd like them to be shifted in time and be either total anachronisms or else totally different and therefore not Jeeves and Wooster?
