Plus you can access the pseudo 3D mode with the 3D button. This gives a 'sort of' 3D picture on 2D content. On Pana and Samsung but not sure of the others

Has anybody heard much from 3D on TV in the last few months?
I haven't!
Funny I was thinking about getting it in a year or so as the price of the sets was coming down like gangbusters and I was considering reserving my projector for PS3 and Blurays leaving the PC on a 50" 3DTV, doesn't look like there's much point now!
I don't think Bluray would have still been here were it not for the PS3, I just don't think enough people had the right kit and temperament to appreciate it!

I would think that any 'new' technology that requires the end user to wear silly glasses is doomed to fail.
I am sure that when these (expensive) glasses are not required, 3 D will take off, but not before then. The problem for Hollywood and media is the fact that they seem to have run out of ideas for film and drama, and want to hide this fact via expensive gimmicks.

I've avoided getting a 3d TV so far, frankly I'm not a fan but I see all these glasses for sale at £xx and even £xxx, but aren't the £2 ones you get at the Odeon the same thing?
Simply put no they're not. Most 3D glasses for home use feature high speed shutters in each lens that shut off the vision 120 times a second alternated eye for eye, the TV also does this and in doing so allows to subtly different images to be displayed to the eyes with the brain reconciling them into a 3 dimensional image.
I heard good things about the Wimbledon final being shown in 3G but didn't get the chance to check it out myself...
Some of the Olympics next year will be in 3D and have a feeling Euro 2012 will have a big 3D push surrounding it as TV sales normally increase around the time of big competitions.
