Indeed I does look good, anything concerning the end of civilisation usually does the trick for me though.
Only hope it doesn't end up being one of those series without "closure" at the end of each series. (like lost funnily enough)
That was always the beauty of the wire & I've no idea why other writers don't take so much notice of it, at the end of each series finish off the blooming story you're telling! We're really struggling to get into this season of the killing for the same reason.

Very Briefly (and, sadly, a bit negatively) discussed here:

Looks like a perfect candidate. A half arsed storyline with pretty teenagers and unrealistic action scenes, it'll run out of steam very quickly the audience figures will flick to something shiny and new after so many episodes and then it'll get stcanned in the first series.I do so prognosticate!
I have so much want for this show right now after seeing that trailer!!
But....that first scene of the overgrown city? I've seen that used in a short film somewhere but I'm sure it had a guy on motorbike being chased by an alien craft. Nowt to do with this series IIRC but it was pretty awesome nonetheless. I'm gonna go look for that.
Just looked; I haven't got a hope in hell of tracking it down without knowing the exact title.

It's by JJ Abrams, gonna be good then.
Means that it'll have a fantastic concept, then either go all stupid & aimless (Lost), be badly paced and be canned (Alcatraz), or actually surprise everyone and apparently go the distance (Fringe).I'm wanting to like this, the trailer is intriguing.
Interesting, sounds like The Day The Earth Stood Still (the original, not the dreary remake).
Good point though. After giving Lost a good 2.5 seasons before admitting it was a waste of time continuing, these high concept things have to be entered into with caution.

...or be full of utterly hateful characters, like Flashforward. Good point though. After giving Lost a good 2.5 seasons before admitting it was a waste of time continuing, these high concept things have to be entered into with caution.

Not sure why we would revert to a pre industrial civilisation without electricity. There is always steam power and there are plenty of working machines left to show us how it is done.
Which is where it falls down and shows that the shows creator has spent maybe 12 minutes, 15 tops in planning it out.Du1point8 said:
Sadly, NBC has a strong history of creating good sci-fi then not supporting them. All the way back to the Original Star Trek! I didn't even risk getting started on Awake, though I love the concept and the execution looks top-shelf. I'm still wishing Surface would re-surface... So I actually will reccommend planning on only one season, possibly as many as 13 episodes if the ratings are half-decent. Anything after that is gravy.
But maybe SyFy being out of the sci-fi business will add a tiny bit of hope?
Centurion commented on parts of the trailer looking familiar? NBC being part of NBC/Universal/MTV/Comcast etc. often reuses bits from the many, many sources they control. I suppose it's only practical.
Even back from when it was just Universal Studios... look at the secondary ships in the Original Battlestar Galactica and you'll quickly recognize the greenhouse dome-ships from Silent Running. I'm not geeky/anorak-ish enough (no, really ) to quote other examples, but they're out there

In the trailer there are stopped cars and planes falling out of the sky so isn't it all power that's gone, as in The Day The Earth Stood Still?durbster said:
