The rear panel trims Mike bought in the states, and Edd left in the trunk.
100% agree with you - really glad they didnt fit them as they were right about spoiling the line of the car plus they would add nothing to it. Still puzzles me how they could think that way about those panels but leave the sun screen on the back glass which totally murdered it anyway.

Having seen the car chase and the stones that kicked up I'm glad they fitted the mud flaps though (a few screws and 10 minutes and they're now gone)

Since we got the car home we havent had it up on a lift again but we saw underneath before buying it and as far as I recall pretty much everything has been restored or replaced.

All brakes are new inc front calipers and discs plus everything at the back, all shocks, rear leaf springs, front bushes, joints, control arms, wheels, tyres etc. (not sure about wheel bearings but they all seem fine).

It's not perfect and there are loads of little jobs to do, mainly inside but it needs a choke for the new Edelbrock carb and it's also running rich so needs tuning/rejetting. The indicator assembly in the steering column had been bodged years ago in the US before the car came over but it only came to light after we bought it so its not anything that the WD guys missed, it's just one of those things. These bits will be done over the next few weeks and loads of other silly bits will hopefully be sorted through the winter ready for summer next year.

Overall it's a lovely car and we're lucky to have found it.

I've just had it confirmed that WD want the car on their stand at the NEC Classic Car show 16-18 November plus they want us to go on stage and talk about the car and WD

Nice to have the opportunity to embarrass yourself on a regular basis - fame at last !

Do you get paid for it or is it just for the kudos of doing it?

Now THAT'S a good question - at this moment I don't have a clue but I'll keep you posted when I know more about it. Either way it should be a grin !

Sounds like the kind of things that add character rather than the car falling apart.

I like Mike, I met him in Brighton when he had the yellow yank barge. He was a really nice chap. I got the distinct impression a lot of what you see on the TV is a character thing, he plays it up for the camera.

Still thought his thing in the Chinook in Afghanistan was amazing and very

I thought that was common knowledge now??

Ed is capable of doing the work but he seems to be a lot of the production side for WD more than the spannering.

True, tv is a distorted lens. I've just watched Mark Evans' restoration of the E type & inbetween the bits they show you, twenty other jobs miraculously appear on the car! It's magic!

Reality would be boring and mundane, in real life we all want to press fast forward sometimes and that's exactly what TV does in these shows - skips the crap parts and goes straight to the good bits. God I wish I could do that on a daily basis !
