Managed about 4 minutes of him - some pish about the wake up song which he is copying from Greg James - bad enough in the afternoon, without doing it twice in a day.

He was awkward and felt really forced, not easy to listen to at all, will try again once he is a bit more settled, but I think my mind is made up tbh.

Tried Radio 2 - Zoe Ball was ok, the music was not (saying that, a lot of the music Moyles was forced to play was pretty ropey too, but at least it wasn't the coffin dodger FM approach that Radio 2 takes). Ended up on the ipod.

Scott Mills was ok for a week, but he is still no Moyles, but this clown is hopeless - so many of the radio 1 DJs are just annoying now - Fearne, Grimmy and Greg James are irrititing to the point of distraction. Reggie Yates makes listening to a toolbox being emptied down a lift shaft seem like an appealing prospect.

I don't think its me, but it just seems a lot more dumbed down and childish than it used to be.

I agree, I don't remember the likes of Simon Mayo, Mark Goodyer, Jo Whiley and of course Mark and Lard sounding childish (never liked Bruno Brooks though!)

Maybe you've grown up a bit too. Stuff I used to find entertaining I now find childish.

I don't get why people think a nationwide, mass-audience, radio station should appeal to them specifically. Most of us are individuals, not nicely fitting into some box on a sociology graduates chart of target audiences.

I'm pleasantly surprised any time I find a radio show that I can happily listen to regularly. This is why personal music players were invented.

One Direction this, One Direction that. I didn't give him long, and tried 6 Music - pleasantly surprised! Just need digital in the car now though!

I thought I would be fair and give him a shot, the real issue for me is I like a lot of the music Radio 1 play so thought that might help

I heard him talking to a caller, basically playing a quiz which seemed to be an excuse to namedrop how many people had wished him good luck. Then the Harry Styles interview which seemed so so awkward, I gave up and listened to Nicky Campbell on R5 as I couldn't find R2, gonna look up the frequencies now

Wont be bothering with NG again

Always R2 here, this morning CE wasn't on it was that woman who keeps on going on about her dad ,I've noticed that she does this every time she does a show.

You obviously mean Zoe Ball, referring to her rahter well liked and known Dad Johnny Ball, who is currently on Strictly Come Dancing. Guess that's why she was going on about him! I haven't heard her for a while but I don't recall that about her shows.

I listened to Grimmy (who sounds just like Sara Cox with a slighty deeper voice) this morning and thought it was crap. The phone interview with Harry Stiles was awkward to say the least, and in the 45 minutes I was in the car he played even less music than Moyles did!

Don't know what to listen to now, can't stand the adverts on commercial radio and as much as I like Chris Evans, the music and tinny sound of the production on Radio 2 mean that I can manage 5 minutes at best before I turn it over!

Might just have to listen to the exhaust on the way into work from now on!

I've got nothing left to listen to frown

Grimshaw was shocking this morning, lasted about as long Scott Miles did last week after playing One Direction twice in a row. No thanks.

Tried Radio 2 and hated that too, didn't know any of the music.

As some have commented, there is no radio station for 20-40's on the BBC anymore. I think the BBC might have buggered up royally here, they're trying attract a younger audience, fair enough but it's an audience that just doesn't exist anymore. Some here with kids, how many listen to the radio in the morning?

I teach about 400 kids and the answer this morning was none of them. If they're in a car, Mum/Dad's in charge, if they walk it's iPod of chat but certainly nothing as quaint as a radio.

I just don't see who will listen.

^^^^This 100%, during the hours of 6:30-10:00am it will be mainly 18-40's who listen to the radio and how many of them want to listen to One direction, Justin Bieber and here about Grimmys minor celeb friends??

Indeed, surely the Breakfast Show is basically Commuter FM and teenagers don't commute.

well as feared for his first show, it was a lot of talk about grimmy's celebrity friends, crap phone guests, forced laughter, and nothing of any interest to over 12's or especially amusing. it's a morning show, why have they gone from an enthusiastic team to one dull voice?

this picture sums him up. stupid hair and best friends with some kid from a crap boyband.

Moyles was past his best and to be honest the only reason I switched on the Radio on a morning was to catch the time which he frequently buggered up. As for anybody else we seem to be where TV was about 10 years ago. No personalities. Cotton is ok as is Vernon Kay. I don't think either are Radio 1 though. The rest are just annoying. It does not help that the Music is pretty generic and most of the Music News revolves around the eccentricities of the artists. Anybody whose any good tends to be side lined.

Quote from ITN.com report:
He presented the programme on his own after station boss Ben Cooper said he wanted to move on from the "zoo" format of Moyles's show in which his production team played a large part, and is expected to double the amount of music.

Breakfast shows have for a long long time been about banter etc, it's worked, still does, not sure why the Boss thinks this will be better.

Quite like this quote from Grimmy though, he obviously has some doubts!:
He said he would last in the job "just until the country uprises and I get thrown back to the night-time".

Guess only time will tell what works and doesn't.

The whole point of the BBC is to do something the commercial sector doesn't. Radio one doesn't have to be better just different.

Believe it or not they've already done this to an extent but R2's charter means it has to appeal to the real oldies too.

Radio 4 is the best.

I listened to 15 mins of it, then listened to the news and turned my iPod on.

His voice just annoyed me, he sounded like he was struggling and it just wasn't entertaining.

I don't like the local station (Rock FM) as they annoy me and play far too many adverts, I can't see myself liking Radio 2, so I think Im just going to have to fill the iPod up a bit more.
