Chris Moyles show . What did you listen to this morning?

I had R1 on in the car for about 20 mins this morning. He was ok, no more annoying than Moyles. If he does play twice as much music then that's a decent step forward IMO - I'd often switch stations when Moyles was rabbiting on and will continue to do so when Grimshaw bores/annoys me. Fortunately it's easy to swap around

I'm teaching kids who were born this millenium and I'm too old for the Radio 1 Breakfast show.

I've been on R5 all week, its not actually too bad, nice bit of sport coverage

I've never listed to R4 but I assume R5 is a slightly dumbed down version of that?

The DJ's on R2 are so much better than R1. HOWEVER - some of the music!! Dear god!! What is there for us mid 30's peeps who still want to listen to good new music?!

The sweet music of the Caterham this morning, accompanied in the treble range by the odd rattle and creak as you'd expect from a 110,000+ mile car and the bass of the pops and bangs from the exhaust on downchanges

Far better than anything a radio can offer.

BBC 6 but you need DAB. I thought Absolute was ok for a bit, but i can't listen to adverts and all the 'Sponsored by...' winds me up, and that voiceover bloke got tediuos quickly.

Worse of all is the music selection. It's obviously chosen by computer as a result of surveys with brain dead morons who fit the target demographic. So for instance they play REM which is good, but it will always and only be their greatesr hit Shiny Happy People. Which you then might hear 2-3 times a week! At first you think 'cool, they are playing XYZ' then you hear it a couple of days later again and you start ti think WTF?

This doesn't happen so much on 6 but I can't quite get in with Keaveney in the morning. It's hard beung picky,

Radio 2 was tolerable (almost enjoyable) whilst Zoe Ball was presenting.
This morning's presenter was dire.


Funnily enough, as I turned the car on this morning, the radio was still set to Radio 1 from Friday night. The only words I heard Grimshaw (grim show?) utter before I had a chance to change the station was "One Direction".

I just need the BBC to start Radio one-and-a-half.

I'm not a fan of Grimmy or the sections he chooses from the play lists to appeal to the urban yoofs, but overall he scores a "less bad" rating above the Radio 2 alternative.

Overall I prefer the Radio 2 presenters, and I'm clearly part of their target age group, however just because my age starts with a three, doesn't mean that my choice of music has to be the decades old, middle-of-the-road, safe bilge that Radio 2 seems to be founded on.

I'm lost without Moyles and the gang each morning, and there is still loads of great new music being made around the world that doesn't have to have been manufactured on a Simon Cowell TV show, or ethnic east London crystal meth den. The "zoo format" worked for me, and I don't want to listen to selections from Now 1990 every morning.

Commuting is tough enough at this time of the year, in the cold dark and wet mornings .... The last couple of weeks have just got a lot tougher

I agree completely re: the sense of feeling lost, which is crazy as it's just a fking radio show, it shouldn't be important and it really isn't in the grand scheme of things...but and it's a big but, I feel depressed on my drive to work now. My job can be busy and stressful (as can my tedious journey to work), Chris helped me laugh before my morning start, improved my mood no end as I approached work, I just haven't found a replacement for that and I don't think I ever will now

Now I see that R1 is trying to target the younger audience, but isn't that what 1xtra does? Whenever I turn to there, it is a load of pish.

I mostly listen to Radio 2, but their music selection is a bit random and does at least seem to allow the DJ to choose some of the playlist. Zoe Ball played some great stuff last week and Chris Evans can play some good stuff when he's not sticking to the official playlist.

Its just annoying that their official playlist is full of pissing awful mum rock and cheesy classics. Mika seems to get played several times a day at the moment and I immediatly have to turn it off.

Playlists seem to ruin all stations for me.

Genuinely haven't found anything I like. Gave absolute a try but worse than Grimshaw

Agree 100%. Think I'll have to resort to audiobooks/ipod now.

I think we underestimate the importance of our "company" on our commutes, and the significance of the proportion of our waking day which we spend in the "company" of the people on the show .... My average of 75 minutes commuting has been 60 minutes of Moyles' show for a long time, and it was as important a part of my morning routine as my first brew of the day when I arrive in the office.

I think that the change is the harest part of the transition to deal with, regardless of the merits of the people or music ... Morning as more lonely without Dave and Dom riding shotgun
