There are three more books, The Sicilian Method, The Cook of the Halcyon and Riccardino. It looks like The Sicilian Method is set to be the last television adaptation though.

I’m amazed that the Italian police ever solve a crime with all the lunches, wine and sexual activities throughout the day smile

Watched it last night.

I haven't read the last three books to know how what's introduced in this story pans out. Obviously the stories weren't written with the intention of them being the last ones. What's in the television episode may deviate from what's in the book with the intention of trying to bring everything to a close.

Salvo breaking up with Livia after all these years to get together with someone he's only just met isn't really a feel good ending in my opinion. I know he had affairs and wasn't faithful to her, but that relationship was part of the ongoing story, so throwing it all away at the end for someone who's come from nowhere leaves a sour taste, yet it seems we're supposed to feel pleased for him.

Maybe it was just me but it felt like a pretty hollow episode. Only one story going on, and hardly any recurring cast and some of them barely appeared.

The only unrealistic bit of all that is any work getting done at all.
