If you like that, then perhaps you'd like a (quite surreal) Russian made film called White Tiger.

Cheers, not heard of that either.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2318405/?ref_=fn_al_tt...
I'll raise you 9th Company which is well worth a watch too.

I thought Hunger Games 2 was one of the most disappointing (and slow) films I have watched thus far this year - that'll teach me to not buy before renting..

Her You can tell it was directed by the bloke that did "Where the Wild Things Are" within 5 minutes, very bright landscapes, slow plinky-plonky piano soundtrack, long slow sceness with little dialogue, but when there is dialogue it's good, moving and very touching.
The fact that this film shows you a glimpse of the very near TERRIFYING future adds a great WTF! aspect..or did for me anyway.... deserves more than it's 8.2 IMDB IMO, really enjoyed it and made me think about it for quite a while afterwards...
oh....it's about a bloke coming to terms with divorce and struggling with dating women, so dates his new computer OS....

'Office Space'
Bob Porter: Looks like you've been missing a lot of work lately.
Peter Gibbons: I wouldn't say I've been missing it, Bob.
I love this film but the ending niggles me a bit, it's like it's trying to send the message that work doesn't suck it's that a job might, go & get one you like instead. They all really hate working, the concept is sucking their souls away, they come up with a way to rip the company off in lieu of immanent job cuts, it goes wrong, the mumbling chap who wasn't too fussed anyway gets the money and the main protagonist gets a new job in demolition. The rest just carry on as before. They never really 'won' or beat the system.Bob Porter: Looks like you've been missing a lot of work lately.

Maybe I've gotten it all wrong and just have a bad case of the Mondays.

American Hustle..... 2/10. Cant see what all the hype was about. Very predictable, and the 'hustle' twist is visable from space with 20 minutes to go.
Dissapointing.
the only thing going for it is Amy Adams looking super fine in very low cut 70's clothing.
We caught it this weekend and I couldn't agree more.Dissapointing.

Most underwhelming.

Went to see Blue Ruin at my local arthouse yesterday. Excellent indie movie, a tale of vendetta and mayhem in the american south. Clearly made on a budget, but it really doesn't show in the production. If you can see yourself enjoying a sort of combination of tarantino but without the excess dialogue, american gothic, and tennessee williams with automatic rifles, it'll be a couple of hours well spent.
Was about to post a review but think you've captured all my points so have a +18/10

I've only managed about 40 minutes of this, particularly because of the awful world he has created. Must give it another go.The fact that this film shows you a glimpse of the very near TERRIFYING future adds a great WTF! aspect..or did for me anyway.... deserves more than it's 8.2 IMDB IMO, really enjoyed it and made me think about it for quite a while afterwards...

I watched Akira (1988) still bonkers, but beautiful.

I think that's a bit harsh, it certainly wasn't the greatest film ever made but it's worth more than a 2 for Amy Adams alone.Disappointing.

But the rest of the film was a bit 'meh'.
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Cant really explain it without giving away big bits of the film, but its very good.

Shame there isn't a mediocre midweek film thread but here goes, my Sky+ is a little lighter now.
World War Z - Brad Pitt, zombie apocalypse. Tired genre and this brings nothing new. 5/10
This is the end - Seth Rogen and crew as themselves in a stoner apocalypse film. Better than WWZ but only just. 5.5/10
Fright Night - The eighties version, cheesy horror comedy when a vampire moves in next door. 5/10
Pain and Gain - Dumb bodybuilders kidnap a client to get his money. True retarded story. Expected more. 6/10

Captain Phillips - Just echoing most of the other reviews, fantastic film and very tense 8.5/10
Jack Reacher - actually surprised how good this was, i haven't read any of the books but im guessing alot of fans give this a bad review due to Tom Cruise being picked and not someone closer to Reachers profile.
That aside Cruise does a fairly good job, and the film has plenty of action with enough intelligence to appeal to those who like Taken, Skyfall, Bourne etc
7.5/10
