The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
The one with Martin Freeman and one or two others.
Felt indistinguishable from the TV series, to be honest. Maybe I've finally out-grown this sort of thing but I didn't find any of it funny any more. Shame really. Suspect this has been subject to massive over-exposure over the years.
Every review I've read of this film suggests it is VERY distinguishable from the TV series, on the grounds that the TV series was good and this film is unmitigated st. The one with Martin Freeman and one or two others.

(I've not bothered watching the film)

An oldie but a goodie - 'Good Will Hunting' on TV last night.
Why has this passed me until now, I really enjoyed it.
A sensitive performance from Robin Williams who was just superb - a great man that we will see no more of.
One of my most favourite films, agreed Williams is incredibly good in it.Why has this passed me until now, I really enjoyed it.

I've been on 'planes way too much recently and pretty much seen everything. That is the only reason I started to watch "The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared". I was very surprised and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The film keeps everything, except the jokes.(I've not bothered watching the film)
The only good part is the glimpse of Douglas Adams at the end.

Stonehearst Asylum - A young Dr goes to an asylum in the middle of nowhere and falls in love with one of the inmates, all is not what it seems though....
Set in 1900's with an all star British cast, really enjoyed it, but I think you'd have to be in the mood for it. 7.5/10
I watched this last night - it's OK isn't it? Suitable sort of film to watch with my wife too, as we tend to have fairly differing tastes.Set in 1900's with an all star British cast, really enjoyed it, but I think you'd have to be in the mood for it. 7.5/10
I quickly guessed the first reveal, but didn't twig the final one until it was shown.
I'll give it 7/10

The Equalizer
All I can say is this... There had better be a bloody sequel.
I liked it. A slightly more intelligent Taken.
Many similarities to Taken, including a daft and utterly predictable plot, but agree it's better film overall. All I can say is this... There had better be a bloody sequel.

Denzel delivered the action scenes very well and was as watchable as ever. I did think they tried far too hard to crowbar references to the TV show in but I suppose it gives them an angle to make a sequel.
7/10

Well I've managed to watch The Raid II three times in the last three days. What an amazing film. It appears cooler to prefer the first one (which I thought was a bit meh despite the rave reviews), but ignore that as the sequel is better in every way. Top of the box says 'the greatest action movie ever'. At the moment I struggling to disagree. 10/10 from me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG9uFX3uYq4
Nightcrawler is definitely worth a watch. A solid 7.5/10
Locke referred to a page or so ago is also really rather good 8/10
On a completely different note, finding vivian maier is worth a watch if you can put aside that cynical thought that it is purely an exercise to increase the value of his stash... 7/10

The Grand Budapest Hotel
I know I'm a little late to the party on this one - and now that I've seen it I regret having waited so long to watch it. What an utter joy. One of the best films I've seen in ages - I spent the whole time grinning. Bloody brilliant.
I felt exactly the same, absolutely loved it I know I'm a little late to the party on this one - and now that I've seen it I regret having waited so long to watch it. What an utter joy. One of the best films I've seen in ages - I spent the whole time grinning. Bloody brilliant.

Gone Girl
Outstanding film, the true embodiment of "the mental". Brilliantly done with plenty of unexpected bits to go with the bits you sense are coming. Solid 9/10 because there isn't really a 10/10 yet as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, just watched this and I thought it was brilliant too. I had high hopes because it's a David Fincher film and it didn't disappoint.Outstanding film, the true embodiment of "the mental".
