My wife watched this last night, while I was on my PC, working. From what I could hear, have the BBC scriptwriters now turned Emilia Fox's character into a full blown SJW, and only works as a pathologist part-time?

Whoever is in charge of vehicles needs to sort their bloody act out or get two of the same van next time!

I would have thought the phones would have been powered up under controlled conditions (i.e. radio blocked) to prevent things happening like the text messages going out.

Otherwise anyone could send a remote wipe command to their phone using e.g. Where's My Droid to erase any evidence

The plotting of 'Silent Witness' tries my patience to breaking point at times, for various reasons, but it is pretty compelling.

But I was wondering, how easy would it be to kick your way out of a Transit? OK, probably 'not very', if you're a malnourished trainer-clad refugee.

I wondered the same thing - but I did imagine that with a bit of organisation and taking turns to bang on the same place (a door, rather than an integral part of the structure of the van) instead of spreading the effort around the van, maybe they'd have got a bit further. When the main baddie turned up at the end and tried the padlocks, the top one looked as if it would have fallen off the back doors if he'd given it a bit more of a tug. Now, if he'd backed the van up against a tree, maybe that would have made it a bit tougher.

It was a bit preachy for me - I somehow wasn't surprised that Nikki would be a bleeding heart, though I notice that she didn't extend that to actually taking any of the migrants home with her.

Next weeks looks a bit better though, or maybe "safer" might be the right word.

I gave up on SW a few years ago.

My wife still watches it, but it jumps the shark every episode.

Would be relatively less difficult to smash up the plywood / timber internal partitions and use that material as a lever / battering ram to cause some damage, rather than hands and feet.

If the script writing continues like this I can't see this lasting much longer. This weeks episodes were so uninspiring.

I've finally given up on it. If I want crap forensic pathologists playing coppers I'll watch CSI Miami.

I think they have done this to save money, saves having a separate crew for the coppers and the path and keeps it all tight. Sadly it makes for a far lesser programme then before

The introduction of a rough-round-the-edges female cop called Steel made me wonder if someone's been reading Stuart McBride books.

I can't help but feel the script writers have been watching too much CSI/Criminal Minds.

And when they looked underneath it, if it was leaking oil at the rate those drips were coming out, it wouldn't have any oil left in it.

I enjoyed this weeks more than the last, because it was just a bit less preachy, just a good old straightforward story without having to address any "issues".

Anyone else notice how the VW briefly turned into a Frontera and then back again when they showed it mowing down the cyclist at the end?

Her hair isn't untidy enough and she's not permanently adjusting her bra.

She also fancies the opposite sex; at least I thought I detected a mild flirtation with Mr Boss Pathologist*, unless there's a symbolism in microcassette tapes that I'm not getting.

* - can't remember his name
