Hmmm... I'll give it a few more episodes, but I'm not sure. James Purefoy I know is supposed to be menacing, Leckter style, but not so much. Thought using Edgar Alan Poe was a lazy plot device. Im struggling to see what charisma Purefoy is putting out that brain washes his victims, not quite as bad as Bruce Payne, but just posh English accent is not enough. And Bacon who is always watchable has been given a character assembled from the parts bin. Flawed, troubled, instinctive (apparently) genius (well no cop is getting anywhere), drink problem, physically weakened, fired from the FBI, slept with his adversaries wife, etc, etc.
I'm picking a faint whiff of Silence Of Lambs/Alex Cross and half a dozen other films or shows.
As I say I'll give it a chance.

Thanks for the heads up, caught it last night (it's on past my bedtime) really enjoyed it. I think it'll get better, last nights was a pilot and they're usually a bit rough around the edges as they have to introduce all the main players and outline the whole premis in one hit.
I was a bit shocked when Taken's Daughter got off'd, I suspected she'd become one of the stars of the show, perhaps the writer / casting director was counting on that.
I guess the rest of the series will focus on Kev fighting off badguys sleeper cell / followers upto and perhaps after the point he's put to death.

[spoiler]I guess by murdering again, both the guards and the girl he will have to be tried again which will take quite a while and enable the series to be as long as it needs to be[spoiler] I was a bit shocked when Taken's Daughter got off'd, I suspected she'd become one of the stars of the show, perhaps the writer / casting director was counting on that.

Just watched it and was about to post exactly the same thoughts. Including my surprise at Taken daughter getting killedI was a bit shocked when Taken's Daughter got off'd, I suspected she'd become one of the stars of the show, perhaps the writer / casting director was counting on that.

I think it shows quite a bit of promise and was well handled for a pilot. As you say they have to squeeze a lot into that 1st hr get people onside. Looking forward to episode 2.
