I know it was an old one, I was asking about the M5 values since the programme was made.
It’s likely in the last 7 years more of the dogs have been scrapped /accident write offs. Who knows really if values have raised or simply the removal of dogs and generally vastly fewer for sale put appear to increase the price when if those cars were for sale now it would be indifferent.
When will the E60 get down to £4K and then the F10m5’s?

I have Brewers aversion so this was the only one I saw with Ant in it and I enjoyed his stuff but as soon as Brewer turns up I have to switch channels. You could actually take his contribution from the first ever show and just splice it in to subsequent shows and nobody would know the difference.
Is this like Brewers droop? You can get pills for that.ajprice said:

High mileage pre face lift cars got right down to the £4k kind of level for a little while. Most probably had the onset of a bit of rust and potential for some large bills but there were plenty around for that sort of money at one point. I suspect most are either now pristine or a rotting shell in a scrap yard sadly. Welshbeef said:

Thanks, so it's the wildebeest pack / Homer's brain cells theory. (Older weaker ones get killed off by lions/beer, making the main group stronger )
For sure - the dogs break for spares likely more £ in it for those owners. You now have
Mega mile versions but totally fine cars
Countless owner cars
No or patchy service history
In need of a lot of work now
Single owner cars
Single owner cars with museum style mileages.
Modified - generally pre LCI making them to post LcI but sometimes Barried
Dreamers asking price - or wide forced husband to put car up for sale, he does but deliberately puts it up at a level no one would buy or if they did he’d be happy.
These are old cars now even the youngest so if nothing age related has been done/replaced when looking you know you’ve a boat load to spend getting it where it should be.
Will it ever be a classic? Who knows.

The thing that always amuses me is that Edd was fired (sorry, decided to leave) because allegedly he didn't see why he had to do all the spannering and saw his role more as the presenter / face of spannering. It was part of the dirty laundry that Mike Brewer aired in the Twitterstorm over it.
Are we really to believe that, conversely, Mike personally researches every car they buy, does all the legwork looking at all candidates, and personally negotiates every purchase? Of course not - he'll have a team of scouts and researchers.
Yet he felt that Edd should do *all* of the spannering.
(Allegedly)
That’s not what I was told by someone who worked for the show, quiet the opposite actually. Their is a whole team of mechanics working on the cars, then Ed came in for the film stuff. Are we really to believe that, conversely, Mike personally researches every car they buy, does all the legwork looking at all candidates, and personally negotiates every purchase? Ever wondered how he found the faults so quickly, or how easily the parts came off?
I assume it’s the same with the new guy

I'd always assumed so too. Ever wondered how he found the faults so quickly, or how easily the parts came off?

But when the Brewer-China Twitstorm was ongoing, Mike was dissing Edd for not pulling his weight on the spannering.

I was more surprised last night (more than usual) at how easy the owner was to drop $3k (yeah I know its staged but I'd have told him he'd wasted his time coming to look at it).
Quick sale needed
Car in shocking condition
28man hours needed plus the costs of parts and subcontracted works.
Car was a sthole
Lucky she found a buyer and I’d wager mummy and Daddy’s got a huge amount so to her it’s meh need I gone.
Or not - it’s a tv show.
It's still keeps me entertained, mostly.
Mike's a bit of a tt and Ant needs to try and tone down his performance, what's the fk is wrong with his voice, does he spend every evening before filming singing in a local choir followed by ten pints in a noisy nightclub shouting into people's ears. And he over animates his facial expressions to be point of looking a bit special. Ideally he should try and tone it down somewhere between where he is now and how Ed China used to be...a bit awkward and boring.
It's spannering lite really. Makes things look easy as nothings ever rusted to st or has complex issues. Apart that it's still worth watching. If you want a geeky car fixing fix then YouTube has a few channels that will oblige.
