Now we have Elvis who seems to do very little repair work, I believe they now employ 10 additional mechanics behind the scenes plus whenever a complex repair is needed it is always the same and Elvis has a mate who can do it on the cheap.
Do you think it's cheaper to hire additional mechanics (I'm not sure it's 10 however), or pay an entire film crew to hang around while the single mechanic does the work and they film the odd bit now and again? It's TV land folks.

Yes that. A tv show has camera guys, sound engineers, production managers, catering, runners, script & video editors, accountants, electricians, lighting people, set designers, deadlines, the list goes on. The idea they buy some random old clunker & just document the repairs is wild. It's entertainment made to a predetermined rhythm. Moaning about realism always reminds me of people stopping soap actors in the street & tearing them off a strip for whatever is going on in Eastenders It's TV land folks.

Yes but Dirty Den shouldn't have been seeing Michelle behind Angie's back, and deserved to be shot. All the car Ned’s, screaming at the telly “What about the bloody labour costs” “This week, Elvis and I, take on a cheeky little 70’s Fiat Convertible”
Most car show, which involve buying repairing/restoring, claim to make a profit, none of them do.
Salvage Hunters, Classic Cars
Flipping Bangers
Wheeler Dealers
“We lost £7000” Doesn’t make for continuity TV, so they just focus on the price of parts, that’s their measure. Why do it? The show has to appeal to a wider audience.
What about Wheeler Dealers
It’s one of the biggest car related shows out there and has a worldwide following.
Been on the air, for close to 20 years, and still coming up with fresh ideas for content.
They only cover cars that most people can relate to, which I think, is why it has a wide appeal.
MB seems to be genuine car nut, unlike some others; he appears to remain close to his roots.
Is it perfect, of course not, nothing is. But MB has done a good job of making it a success, for that he deserves credit.
(Uncle Mike, don’t forget me at Christmas)

Sums it up, daqinggregg it is entertainment after all, difficult to keep a car show like this fresh for twenty years so he is doing something right. How many times do you want to see brake pads being fitted?
Remember me too at Christmas Mike

Really? Presenter of one of the biggest car shows on TV, with growing audiences for 20 years.
What did he do to Ed? Did you watch the interview and hear his explanation?
The mob is everywhere. Brewer can do nothing right in their minds. What did he do to Ed? Did you watch the interview and hear his explanation?
I know the purchase sequences are all fake and pre-filmed but I have always wanted the seller to hold their ground.
MB: How much did you want for it?
Seller: It's £9k, Mike.
MB: Well, I know how much this car is worth to the penny and it's £7k. There's a lot out there and if I don't buy this one I'll just buy another.
Seller: Well, Mike. If you think you can buy one for £7k I think you'd better fk off and find one, 'cos you ain't getting this one.

I don’t think he was a whiner at the start but as the programme progressed you could tell that things were not good between the two of them with Edd making sarcastic comments and even wearing a disparaging T shirt.
Sometimes the arguments seemed to be contrived, maybe to get viewers to complain about poor judgment by either of them. Car colours being a favourite cause for a disagreement then next episode MB would leave it up to Edd to decide the colour?

I think there’s a lot of selective memory loss going on.
Wheeler Dealers stopped being about Edd welding up rust buckets and rattle can spraying Capris pretty quickly. We used to moan that he had every tool known to man which went far beyond the home mechanic’s set up. Who remembers the dent pulling he used to do or the laser tread measurement thing?
They also used to modify, not just fix cars. Remember the 4x4 Panda or the green laning Suzuki SJ?
When WD went to America it got worse. Futuristic Gremlin, survival Hummer, electric Maserati?
To a certain extent Ant brought it back to its roots. They might have left welding up old cars to Car SOS but Ant did do demonstrations of the reason for having head gaskets etc.
Elvis strikes a balance between rebuilding carbs and suspension with skimming cylinder heads.
Mike’s role has also changed. He used to do the buying and selling and turning up with parts but, as the buying and selling were so obviously fake, they’ve dropped that and he now goes out and shows what little engineering firms do.
A show that has been going 20 years has to evolve. They can’t fettle 2 grand dogs every time.

Pardon? You know when Mike would rock up in a car and Edd/Ant/Elvis would ask "So what's wrong with it then?", and Mike would reply something like "Why do you always assume that there's a problem with any car I bring to you?"
Just once I would have liked to see Edd/Ant/Elvis reply "because it's the central premise of the show, Mike."
