I saw the one last week where Mike did up an old truck. Had a new engine, but the body was tatty and the interior knackered. Woman he bought it off was very nice though.
The whole show was very strange though with only a couple of appearances from Edd and Mike doing a fair amount of the work.
I didn't rate it at all.
That must be the one i watched last week as they're being shown on Quest at the moment. That's the last season that Edd featured in (2016) before Ant took over the following year.

I'm assuming that was also the first season where the show was produced outright by Discovery US rather than the previous UK TV / production company?

It would certainly tie in with far more of the American style banter from Mike, much less of Edd on screen, more of Mike "working" on the cars himself and also the rather cringeworthy "acted" scenes like the one where Mike turns up in the Yellow Honda and spends 30 seconds revving the engine & blasting the horn whilst shouting "Edd" to (eventually) get Edd's attention.

I seem to remember Edd being ill during that series, there is an episode where he doesn't look great and is noticebly croaky.

Could be wrong, I often am.

I'll watch it if there's nothing else on. I just had a look at the advert (a couple of posts up) for the Jensen. It's one of the cars from the show and it's now up for sale for restoration. Sounds like they bodge and leggig.

It was on the show in 2010 so probably filmed in 2009... a lot will have changed in the car since then, surely?

Plus the guy is asking £22,000... he only paid £6,500 (according to Wikipedia)

My bad. Hadn't realised it was filmed that long ago.

Watched this last night. Quite enjoyed it, especially (although apparently it's well known) the intermediate bearing sequence. Do we know what car they're doing next week?

The 996 episode was quite interesting, although if I'm being picky, they missed out the obvious wheel refurb and rear lights that weren't working when they bought it.

Haven't seen the episode, but we've had episodes of WD where both of those jobs have been done in the past.

There are only so many mechanical issues to deal with and bodywork and interior.

It should be more about what car they are finding to do up.

You know, that isn't the worst idea you've ever Mr Welshie wink

[cockney geezer brewer accent]"This week, Ant, I've been having a look on the market and I reckon that we could find a Ford Focus ST170 that needs some work, and leave ourselves enough room to make a wedge the other end.[/cockney geezer brewer accent]

The kind of thing, you mean? I've obviously just plucked the ST170 out of the air as an example but clearly someone knows where the prices are going for "good" ones and MB is in the trade, he knows where there is money to be made, and Ant could give his opinion on what to look out for.

I agree, but with this being the second 996 featured on the show (also the third 911 on WD and the fourth 911/third 996 featured if you include the one bought at the end of the first series of WD Trading-Up) then trend of the the show turning into 'Mike Brewer's Greatest hits remastered' continues.

Also, YET ANOTHER CLUTCH CHANGE!?

I'm not saying I want to see another AMC Pacer episode, but I'm really starting miss Edd China's input on the selection of cars to work on as at least it added some variety.

I think part of the problem is that Wheeler Dealers have rather painted themselves into a corner. The whole USP of the show has always "we show you how to fix up cars yourself, and turn a profit". Yes, it has rather drifted from that into "we show you how to fix up cars yourself if you happen to own a fully equipped garage and are a professional mechanic" but it's still about the fix(es). And there are only so many things you can fix before you start to repeat yourself.

With other shows, like Fast n' Loud for example, you get cases of "we're making these mods because we've done this type of car before and we know these work". But that doesn't fit within the WD ethos - it's all about showing something new / unusual / different.

Mind you, on such a long-running show, there are always going to be new viewers which is why every so often we have yet another visit to a factory to see how powder coating is done.

Plus it isn't like they are re-running those early "2x 30 min shows" where they did everything for under £1,000 either. All the re-runs seem to be the later series

They've not done an ISB before and it's something many people will not have heard of,me included....and it's usually wise to put a clutch in when the gearbox is out especially if you're paying someone else for the labour

I only count 1 996? Where are you getting the 2nd from? You're not confusing it with the Boxster are you?
