Very strange episode - even more so than usual! Car was off road but needed a master cylinder - so original seller did that for them, not the biggest job on a Seven. Then all this talk of building the ultimate spec car........a 1700 Supersprint with a live axle.....and seemingly very few Caterham parts used in the rebuild! I was just waiting for Mike to walk into the spares department at Caterham but no, MK Sportscars - a Seven esque kit company! And lots of non-Caterhams shown in that visit. So they ended up with a very weird Frankenseven on big fat tyres for it's circa 130bhp.
I worked at Caterham in the 90's - Graham Nearn would not have wanted this parked out the front of the factory smilebyebye

They must have replaced everything given the state it was in. Would have probably been easier to buy a new car and swap a couple of rusty suspension bolts to make it seem legit hehe
Yep! It looked like it had come from the bottom of the sea. And they didn't mention the new suspension.
I was expecting a chassis swap and did wonder if that was what they did in the end. I did notice a couple of rusty bolts left in, unless they were left in for effect. It turned out quite nice, but not the ultimate 7 as promised.

Mike "why haven't you driven the car for so long?"

Seller "it's a total rust bucket heap of junk that I bought with a plan on fixing but can't be bothered with it now"

Mike "Err..."

Seller "Sorry, I mean it needs a new master cylinder and I don't have the parts or the time to fix it, like you said"

Back at the workshop...

Mike " The seller fitted a new master cylinder for us so we can drive it..."

Small detail, but they could have have used black bolts and rivets on the front cycle wings and the rear stone chip protection.

Looks like he hadn't adjust the harness correctly either when he was on track.

It's repeated at 03.00 on Friday. The description in the guide is incorrect.

I can’t believe elvis chose to fit the new discs on the 405 then lever the pistons back off them rather than leave the old ones on to lever off .

I thought that too, always how I do it! Great looking car, one for my dream garage, I had a 405 SRi and it remains one of my favourite ever cars.

Nice work if you can get it, charge your holiday expenses to the budget.

Agree with above why lever pistons against new discs?

Thought the guy who made the new plastic cover for the wash jets was very skilled, interesting to watch.

I guess that is the last one until the spring? Heaven forbid the Christmas schedules are interrupted for WD smile

I thought that too when he did that, he could also have had Mike checking the reservoir instead of him sitting around.

I thought it was a great car though! I've not seen one in years!

The front bumper repair was great! Notice though when Elvis drives it in to the MOT place, it's not sitting properly on the drivers side. It's not straight as there's a gap. All in all though nice car.

I think this leads them on to their 'on tour' series coming up where they'll fix up other on site, rather than in their workshop.

From what I understand the next series is a one off world tour, Mike did post on Instagram the other day a photo from Tavarish's workshop in the USA.
