I mean nothing to do with those cars being "dream cars" for a lot of people
Yeah, but by 'pure coincidence' they have mostly been featured on previous episodes of WD one or more times being eulogised over by one M. Brewer.xjay1337 said:
If you don't like it then don't watch.
I haven't watched it (the old dichotomy - how can you criticise something you haven't watched.) I put up with the last series of WD proper until the piss poor production values (looking at wrong camera, bad editing etc.) and blatant falsehoods ('This is the first Capri we have ever featured on WD') put me off.My criticisms now stem from the observations from others that (a) WDDC appears staged (b) it is a re-hash of WDTU without the international travel element and (c) the cars have been featured before.
ETA. Was idly watching a repeat of the WD TVR Cerbera episode on Discovery Turbo last night and a trailer for Dream Cars came on during the ad break featuring (briefly) Mike driving..... a TVR Cerbera!

W, exactly, TF is a 'car underwriter'?
"I'll underwrite it for £25k." sounds an awful lot like "I'll buy it for £25k." to me.
And, given Mike bought it at trade and couldn't sell it, and the 'Underwriter' paid retail and still wants to make a profit, either he's a numpty, or he's fictitious.

I used to work for a car dealer (25 years ago); main dealers would call him (constantly) when they were valuing part exchanges for customers; they would (in theory) accurately describe the car and he would "underwrite" it; ie if the deal went through he would be bound to buy it at the agreed price. This could amount to 10-20 cars per main dealer a week, the majority of which were taken straight to auction with the rest sold to smaller dealers. He had a superb grasp of auction prices, which the main dealers didn't have and quiet a lot of cars were either "behind book" or "into book"; even so he would get it wrong every now and then, sometimes suffering a big loss especially on the more expensive/rare stuff. It's official - Brewer is a self-absorbed nob.
He's used Caroline Flack's suicide as an excuse to go on LBC and do a 'woe is me' piece. Hardly comparable - Flack clearly had mental health issues, Brewer is just mental.

You are being disingenuous. He makes a relevant, fair and valid point at a time when it is appropriate to be discussing trolling as it may have been a factor in CF’s suicide.

Do you genuinely think the situations are comparable? Plus, Brewer has proved to be disingenuous in the past. Given his fragile ego, his tendency to exaggerate and his need to self promote I seriously doubt the veracity of some of his claims and I question his motivation.Evercross said:

I've never met the man, let alone know how he thinks.
A good place to start would be his Twitter feed. Yes, he has been the brunt of a few wind-ups but I would hardly go as far to say he's the victim of excessive trolling plus he not entirely innocent of starting flame-wars himself. As for his dishonesty everyone is still waiting for him to legally challenge his former colleague's published version of events regarding the WD 'cast change'. It doesn't tally with his, and he'd have grounds to sue for libel if it weren't true, but that's nearly a year passed and not a peep.
Bottom line stands for me - Brewer's online experiences do not match in any way with the unfortunate Ms. Flack, who clearly had issues that went far beyond a bruised ego. I find it somewhat distasteful that someone like Brewer would try to ride the coat-tails of her tragedy as if his personality issues are in any way comparable.

They held about 100k worth of Edd tools and made excuse after excuse why they hadn't sent them back.
Brewer on social media is very immature, he blocks users with critical comments about the show he sees as unfavourable and calls them 'trolls' when all they are doing is stating their opinion.
I haven't watched much of the new stuff and the last full Dream Car episode I watched was so full of fake deals it was ridiculous.

So the S2000 was bought off the same dealer as the Bentley last week, and low and behold the dealer appeared to have another silver Flying Spur in stock even though that’s not the sort of stock he usually moves....
Yep noticed that too, ‘another’ flying spur. Fancy that! Whilst picking holes I love how some if these owners run very cheap cars and have barely any savings to put into the pot yet they will of course be fine to run, insure, fuel and repair an expensive performance car...

There's criticism and trolling. I'm not sure Brewer knows the difference.
He's made a lot of watchable TV over the years and is obviously fairly successful in what he does, I'm not sure why he wades into social media as much as he does.
Sweeping generalisation, but the kind of person who wants to be in front of cameras is often the kind of person with an overwhelming need for external validation and praise. Any negative opinions and criticism therefore sting all the more. He's made a lot of watchable TV over the years and is obviously fairly successful in what he does, I'm not sure why he wades into social media as much as he does.
Either that or it is overly-agressive brand management.
