The scenes with Ant driving the Volvo didnt look right. It looked like an old 50's movie with the background being filmed on a screen behind the car.
I was flicking through the channels just now and just happened to come across a repeat of that episode at exactly that point, and yes it did indeed look like an appallingly bad mid-Century back projection. yes

I can only conclude that it was just an unfortunate trick of the camera that made it look that way, because nobody uses back projection any more and nobody could cock up a green screen that badly these days.

Little dig at WD on a recent Car SOS - Tim Shaw at the reveal says ' Remember me? I used to do a car show with Fuzz; we had a row and he went off to America'

So now it's in quest finally caught one of the Ant episodes.

Basically here is a car, I did this to fix it. Don't show Ant doing the fix, sell car. It is so dumbed down it's beggars belief.

Total horse st. I do love Mike's Facebook posts of him announcing how nice it is for him to block the haters, or in English. I don't want to hear critical feedback la la la la I'm perfect.

In general Ant is shown to do more work than Ed ever did
I’d say it’s the other way round. Ant just grins to camera a lot and fiddles a bit with the car. Ed used to get stuck in, AND tell you how things worked.

I fell asleep missed most of tonight's SAAB 96 stuff, wanted to see it too,so that I could criticise cos I actually know a bit about them.
I didn't like them in the workshop ,should have been left in the 1960s.

One thing that has changed for the better in the newer episodes with Ant, is the producers dropping the part where MB rocks up with his tools and starts fixing things.

He did that frequently in the last season with Ed, and it just looked like a desperate attempt to claw back some more screen time for himself.

Nobody wants to see that st (Tim Shaw take note)

I've not seen any of the new series with Ant, but Ed was the only reason for watching the older ones, Mike's just a car salesman / wideboy and the purchase / sales are all fakes anyway, a quick Google search on the registration number of the car normally reveals that. But watching Ed actually working on the cars (last night I watched him take apart the VTEC system on an S2000) is actually informative, decent TV.

I actually found the bmw M3 conversion from auto to manual quite interesting even if they skimped on detail a little.

In fairness, Ed wasn't well in some of those shows. You could tell he didn't sound right so in a bid to keep things on track Mike probably helped out.

My thoughts are with Mike Brewer in these unhandshakey times, maybe he needs to command his customers etc to “‘old aat yer elbow”

I was watching the old BMW 2002 episode this evening. He bought the car, in the states, from a guy called Randy
He knocked on the guys door, it opened. Mike Brewer launched in with 'Are you Randy?'.
How he kept a straight face, I will never know.

I haven't watched this weeks episode yet. The Bronco does nothing for me, especially as they only did one a few years back in the BAC (Before Ant Came) days.

They need to bin Mike off and get Ed back. He can fix cars alongside Ant and they can both do bits to camera about the fixes they make

Mike's role is largely redundant when you think about it - all he does it meet the buyer and talk to him and then go to a scrap yard or parts place and fake barter with the people who work there

WD season 13 is currently showing most nights at midnight.
It's FES.....Final Edd season.
Last night was a weird one,ep4 BTW.....The Chevy Luv pickup, named truckie.
Brewer buys ,for $1500 off the $2500 price but that's another rant.
Arrives at workshop,no Edd to be found,MB proceeds to start removing bits of bodywork, bashes straight front bumper, does a bit of dent bashing on front fender and it removes pickup bed, needlessly it transpires.
Edd turns up,does some more fancy paintless dent repairs and sods off again ,leaving MB to do some more, fitting air shox set up and some other fettling.
Edd reappears at the end for the selling guff.
Was this the start of the Edd Mike divorce ?
It was awkward viewing.

The general view is that Edd was ill at the time hence why he did so little.

I have seen that mentioned before but wiki has a total of 5 lines on Edd's time on WD ,so unconfirmed.

I'll watch the rest of season 13 for more before the split.

Why is the new seat cover on the base of the 124 split in the corner?
