WD is currently the most watched car show on earth though so Mike isn't hurting for money.
More than Top Gear?

WD is one of the few shows I can watch any episode of, many times. Like Salvage Hunters. I have no idea why!
Brewer has mentioned it on every interview he has been on for the last year. I have no reason to doubt him in his assertion. My assumption is that the Top Gear audience has shrunk dramatically since the departure of Clarkson & Co. Some sites are suggesting 135M viewers which is less than half TG at its peak.

i am sure I spotted Ed working at my local Kwikfit. He's had his hair cut and looks a lot shorter in real life.

I guess we'll never know the real reason.
Well someone further back on this thread pointed out that only one of them has committed the story to print and that's Ed. If he had lied etc, given that there is clear animosity between them, they'd have been in court by now.

So I would think that Ed's recollection is what happened, especially as Brewer's let the Lard Lad doughnuts go to his head and keeps changing his tune about it.

Not directly related to the show but I ran into Mike (literally) in Ashby de la Zouch a few weeks ago. Nice chap considering I nearly bowled him and a lady associate over!

New series on Monday I believe - spotted an advert yesterday but might have been on a recorded programme I can't remember.

Quest started showing series 15, which I think is the most recent one they've filmed, last week. It's new to Quest, but previously aired on Discovery. It's on at 9pm on Thursday, just before Chasing Classic Cars, plus various repeats thereafter.

Yep, looks like its all yank version of European/Japanese cars, which Ant is then probably trying to remove all the federalised bits off to Euro spec them, judging by the conversion of the Rabbit GTi into a euro Golf GTi episode.

I wont be bothering with any of the other episodes. No interest in this st anymore.

The V6 Capri which, according to MB, you can recognise by the bulge in the bonnet.

As far as I'm aware all Capris have had the same bonnet bulge since the Mk1 facelift in 1972.

Yes but if I correctly understand the point being made by others, they all do so it is incorrect to say that you can tell it is a V6 by the bulge.

You might as well say that you can tell it is a V6 by the fact that it has 2 doors. Or that it has 4 wheels. smile

New episodes on Discovery starting next Monday. For some reason, it's starting with the second part of Series 16, or at least the first episode broadcast is number 8.

The American Spec 2.8 Capri, according to Ant:

" You can tell straight away, just by looking at it that this is a US spec engine, and it's all because of this manifold "

Then goes on to explain that the European version had six-port heads but the American version had four, with two being siamesed.

"This was good news for the UK but bad news for the USA...as it reduced power."

All very interesting but completely wrong. It's the other way around.

Did they forget which Country they were in, were the researchers asleep, does Ant with his lifelong Capri association need better glasses and how could this possibly have escaped the expert knowledge of Mike Brewer?
