Dr Who… Awesome News If You're A Fan
Discussion
I thought it was one of the better episodes, the tension is racking up and the Doctor is facing some real challenges - I liked that they killed the sonic screwdriver and put the Tardis off limits so that there was some risk.
On the other hand, 45 minutes often feels way too short - they have to paint the story with such broad brush strokes to fit everything in, that it feels a bit over simplified. In old Who, they would have spent a couple of episodes just establishing the whole idea of corporate control gone mad, but for this they had to get it over with a couple of lines of slightly overwrought dialog. Not that I'd want a return to the plodding filler-cliffhanger-filler-cliffhanger of the old series, but some of the ideas (and some fine actors) get far too little time to really shine.

I liked that one. Anyways, this weeks next Doctor Who's are... Luke Treadaway (Fortitude), Sacha Dhawan (An Adventure in Space and Time) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag).

Kris Marshall isn't a dead cert anymore, apparently.

I thought the same and last night I just kept thinking I was watching a repeat. We've had something very similar on a space station or something in the past.
"The Impossible Planet" on the space station with the evil presence taking over and killing crew with the Tardis cut off by planetquake that caused it to fall into the centre of the planet, also episode "42" with the evil force from the sun taking over crew members of a space station ("burn with me") with the Tardis cut off by heat not lack of oxygen this time. Could probably also include "Waters of Mars" with a similar taking over of crew of a mars base story but the Tardis wasn't cut off this time.FourWheelDrift said:

The industrial technology going rogue ideas in both this and Smile remind me of The Rebel Flesh.Tuna said:

But a few 2 parters wouldn't go amiss, fill out the story a bit, bit more background to the people/story has never hurt. You need to feel something for the characters. On the other hand, 45 minutes often feels way too short - they have to paint the story with such broad brush strokes to fit everything in, that it feels a bit over simplified. Oh look it's yet another Dr Who series story arc. Why do we keep having these? I do admit Bad Wolf was good please leave it there. I don't really care who is in the room, vault door whatever.
Loved the dead people in the suits. Nice and scary for the little ones...come to think of it do they still watch or is it just the adult fans now?
