The role, the part, the character of Dr. Who - is male.
What characteristics (besides always being played by a man) about the character mean it has to be a male actor?

He's an alien FFS! He has two hearts. Who is to say he even has a penis? We've never seen it.

I see we have it on good authority that an alien with two hearts & a magic screwdriver can have a time travelling Police box but not a vagina,

How do you know? Have you ever seen his penis?

Also, maybe he was female all along because maybe Gallifreyans who look male to us are actually the ones who bear children and have vaginas, and this is the first Doctor who is actual Gallifreyan male and has a penis. And under the clothes of doctor 13 there will be breasts and a penis.

That would really fk with your head wouldn't it? hehe

If you flip a coin 13 times there's a possibility you'll flip heads 12 times and tails once. If you had 13 kids, there's a possibility you could have 12 sons and 1 daughter. It just so happens that Doctor Who is now that possibility. Deal with it.

At least you know they are not wasting license payers money on expensive branded clothing.

Tell the BBC, it's them that's programming our children by ramming PC attitudes down their throats - in supposedly light entertainment.

Did you not notice all the blunderbuss subtlety of the PC messages in the last series - is a children's program really a suitable platform?

BBC news reporter just justified recasting lead as a woman by saying "the BBC having firmly committed itself to diversity".

Actress said "as a feminist".

Anyone still care to say it's not about being PC?

As the look of the TARDIS interior changes with each Doctor, will it now have matching carpet and wallpaper, some nice cushions maybe, a bit of chintz and some doilies as she is 900 years old....and a properly placed sink for when the washing up needs doing smile

I don't care about the sex change, I just hope for better scripts, although I do think the sex change thing has been done too soon after the Master's
BUT if they didn't do it now,we would have 5 years of Kris Marshall and people moaning about the Doctor still being a white bloke

Well I admit I'm a feminist, any man with a daughter I imagine is. I want her to see she can be anything she likes even Dr flipping who.

I don't watch Dr Who but I have seen Broadchurch and she was rather good in that and I'm that intrigued to see how she'll play this I may just watch.
So someone who doesn't watch it tells the fans they should be pleased with a main character change. How do you judge this, from what reference point.

And your daughter can be anything she wants, including a man.

I don't watch it because it's a children's programme much like I don't watch Dora the explorer but I did have an opinion on swiper not swiping the map.

From the reference point of knowing enough about Doctor Who from popular culture to be able to comment. From knowing that the premise of the show is that it's about an alien who can regenerate into a completely different person in terms age, height, weight, hair colour, regional accent, and mannerisms, but apparently not gender. hehe

Plus, it's a show that has been running so long that it is perfectly possible to have grown up watching it, but no longer watch it. Like, say, Blue Peter.

Ah typical feminist - now the people that object are 'scared of her gender'.

PC fruit-loops.
