I could sit here and type out all of the programs that depict the opposite but hell, here's a linky: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_television_...

Knock one yourself out.
On the basis that list seems to encompass all characters - whether they had lines or not and whether it was a full on trist or the lightest of innuendos - and judging by the shows - all TV over all time - that's an awful, awful lot of television.

It's a big list, but I am willing to bet that it is entirely proportionate with what happens in wider society - maybe not the one you like to expose your fear of 'political correctness' to - but y'know - the actual wider real world.

Seriously - I seldom notice it - you just must be really hyper-sensitive to the issue.... wonder why wink

Did I suggest that then? Comprehension fail.
It might help if you actually explained what your point is in a bit more detail. I think you're complaining that there are more gay characters on TV than in real life, but that's not really relevant to the gender of the Doctor's body so I could be wrong.

Lets recap.

And his wife might be bisexual for all you know.
Please don't say things like that, the script writers might be looking in.
This was said kinda tongue-in-cheek as:

His female Assistant is a full blown LGBT character
His male assistant is in real life Gay

Thus I merely suggested that making his Wife a Lesbian would be taking things to extreme, so, please don't let the script writers hear you saying it.

I'll make an assertion here.

Doctor Who being a woman will be challenging for the ratings. Making her 'wife' a Lesbian whilst additionally swamping it with Gay and Lesbian characters would sink it. Hence the comment. None of this is likely to happen but then hey, I didn't start this sideshow.

Well, whatever happens, I hope that the new Doctor has a chance to shine with good scripts, and the casting decision is judged on its own merits rather than being a gender debate.

I'd rather see "Jodie Whittaker was a poor choice for the role" than "a woman was a poor choice for the role", if you see what I mean. However, we all know it will be the latter if it doesn't work out. Sadly.

Just catching up with this thread and he didn't say that ("it's everywhere!!!") or anything like it. You've invented a post to suit your agenda which is no surprise on PH.

Seriously, stop making stuff up. rolleyes

So?

It does happen in real life y'know.....
Of course I know, it's in almost every tv show, how can you NOT know.
Excuse me, you are correct ....almost everywhere. He said almost everywhere.

So sort of like everywhere,

Almost like it.

(As its the TV forum i took the reasonable liberty of treating everywhere in the to sense.)

Almost, BUT NOT.

Nothing like a little embellishment to make the point eh? The 3 exclamation marks were false too. But then they add to your sense of faux outrage so serve a purpose.

An actual example of "The professionally offended.".

You've already back tracked from calling it an out and out fabrication

Embellishing a little! I think may he without sin cast the first stone on this issue, eh?

In real terms - in this particular instance - the difference between almost everywhere and everywhere is purely semantic - i would expect 99% would agree on that point, and in a different context you may as well - but you don't want to concede the point after blustering in and accusing me of making things up, so I get that you won't on this occasion.

Re: the exclamation points, - come on get a grip - I added hyperbole to my perception of his attitude - I was taking the Micky out of what i believe to be a hysterical view - its no different to you accusing me of fabricating a post or calling me 'professionally offended' - which is something you seem, just over a different issue.

I'm not particularly offended - i just think people are being hysterical over the issue!

It was a throw away line that YOU decided to take umbrage with.

So when I say "Almost every TV Show" = "It's Everywhere!!!"

rofl

And 99% would agree? There's your agenda, you're playing to the gallery. Now what's that called, Virtue something-or-other..

Exactly. You misquoted me deliberately.

Are you a politician?

Right, I know it's over until Xmas so bickering is taking over but lets get the thread back on track.

So it's gone from "he didn't say anything like it" to "it was just an embellishment".

Any more back-pedaling while you are on such a roll?

I finally got round to watching the last couple of the episodes of the latest series last night. How was a female doctor such a surprise to anyone? I couldn't believe how many references there were once John Simm turned up biggrin

The Mash Report (an upcoming BBC show spun off from the Daily Mash satirical website), saying that Whovians are used to scary aliens, but have the BBC gone too far this time? Is an alien who has a vagina just too scary?

rolleyes Wiki: Embellishment

'a detail, especially one that is untrue, added to a statement or story to make it more interesting.'

Any more comprehension lessons required? hehe

2nd time I'll say it, and like techiedave says "it's becomming very boring now", lets move on.

Meanwhile, in other news, Baroness Hale has just been appointed as the UK's first female top judge.

Lawyers and criminals alike are filling the internet with complaints about how top judges have always been men, and it requires a penis to interpret the law and hand down judgement. Plus it breaks the entire back story of the legal profession to suddenly have a female top judge.

"It undermines the whole legal profession", some parent whined. "My son used to aspire to be a top judge, but now that a woman is one he obviously can't"

Police are worried that Baroness Hale may let criminals off with a spanked botty, and that she might disappear off to have a baby in the middle of a hearing.
