Personally I think it would be a blast if they did some one off specials with David Bradley as the first Doctor.
Perhaps re film the missing serials. Not sure how viable it will be but he was such a joy to watch
Yes, well put. I forgot to mention the time that they spent on the original TARDIS. It would seem a waste not to use it.
Was it the 'An Adventure in Space and Time' set?

The walls are different, but the console might be the same thing painted white.

Those hexagonal shapes with the circles inside are completely new.

The Tardis stayed pretty much the same inside from Hartnell to McCoy until the 1996 film.

Colin Fat Doctor Baker
Unnecessary.

Along the way the Doctor abandoned Clara
Not so. It was only that it initially seemed that way. Clara's words even make the point clear.

I do agree though that the characterisation of Peter's Doctor jumped around wildly. They started off making him seem harsh, aloof and uncaring, which is exactly what was done with Colin's Doctor and that didn't go down well either.

Colin has made many Big Finish audio dramas where his Doctor gets proper characterisation and he's fabulous in them. Colin too could have been one of the all time greats but was let down by factors outside his control.

For his part, Peter's acting prowess has made many a dull script watchable. Much more could have been made of him.

I would watch that. The Doctor is a much better character when they haven't turned his zaniness up to 11.

From the pictures of her outfit and no doubt an exaggerated Yorkshire accent you can tell they are going to make the new one a clown. They won't do the female side properly, it'll be instant acceptance. He's been a male for thousands of years, the first Doctor was incredibly sexist, why not actually start off with trying to force a regeneration so he can get back to being male?

Retro Tardis was awesome, hope the new one looks a bit more like that. Only with more cushions.
Yep even had time centre console moving up and down very jerkily (is that a word) as per the original series etc

Next series is reported as 10 episodes. Down 2 from Capaldis series
Peter Capaldi's were 1 down from Matt Smiths/ David Tennant/ Chris Ecclestones 13 shows a series.
Not reading that much into it assuming its length of time to film and scheduling issues

A few of Tennant's episodes didn't have much of him in them, because of filming time. Blink is an obvious one, he's on the DVD, and in the street at the end.

Individual episode lengths for the 2018 series are being increased from 45 to 50 mins though, so in terms of screen time they will only be one episode down from Capaldi's series.

During the Tennant and Smith eras they sometimes had to 'double bank' the filming of episodes (where two episodes are filmed pretty much simultaneously), resulting in one or more of the main actors being missing from large chunks of episodes. The reduction in the number of episodes should mitigate against too much double banking in the future.

I've been watching all of the "new era" Doctor Who series with my son now he's old enough. My god the David Tennant series, especially 3 and 4 were so much better than anything we've had in recent years. Both series had amazing series end stories.

Yes I spent n entire day last weekend re-watching selected episodes.

Favourites included Gridlock, featuring the luscious Lenora Crichlow.

And Blink, featuring the equally luscious Sally Sparrow.

Could one of these be the next companion please?

(Or better still, both of them.)

Funny thing that. I too have been watching some of the Dr Who stuff.
I am currently back at the Christopher Ecclestone ones and its really good to see how they started out.

In my opinion, Blink is one of, if not the best Dr Who episodes ever. Fantastically written, really explored and used time and space, just brilliant.

Just wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff

Same here. Love it. It stands up wonderfully as not only a Dr Who episode but also a stand alone drama.
