Dr Who… Awesome News If You're A Fan
Discussion
You might want to stop now to be honest. The Matt Smith era was all about his companions, meanwhile he spins on his heel, gurning. That isn't to say there weren't occasional good episodes, but they were the exception. I wish they had given River Song her own spin-off series, perhaps giving the main series a bit of a rest.

I wont be watching this out of protest for the casting of a woman doctor
However one company working in conjunction with the BBC has announced a streaming service that will show the programmes 24 hours later with a suitable male voice dubbed over the words spoken b y the doctor
This will offer some sense of normality and may make it possible for me to continue watching the programme

I suppose it may be watchable if you turn the picture off as well. However one company working in conjunction with the BBC has announced a streaming service that will show the programmes 24 hours later with a suitable male voice dubbed over the words spoken b y the doctor

It might be great, it might be awful it will be nothing to do with the gender of the main character. You are being silly, immature and misogynist, you can pick for yourself which of these is your main stimulus.
Please tell me you are joking and over dubbing my a male isn't a thing.

I have no issue with a gender change for the Doctor but in my opinion Jodie Whittaker is not the right person for the role. I feel that she has very little presence and does not connect with the audience in the way better actresses do.It might be great, it might be awful it will be nothing to do with the gender of the main character. My wife has read that in audience test screenings her acting has not gone down well and many scenes have had to be changed and re-shot because she does not connect with the audience.
Like them or not, Missy (Michelle Gomez) and River Song (Alex Kingston) have the stage presence and characterisations that Jodie Whittaker may be lacking. I will watch it but I fear that it will crash and burn with Jodie when the choice of another actress for the role could have made it so much better.
Time will tell and I hope the BBC hasn't made a big mistake that kills off Dr Who for good.

I'd be interested to hear where you've read that - can't find a reference for it with a quick search. There is a *lot* of bhing from 'fans' though. Who'da thought gender was such a big issue?
I'm nervous of Chibnal saying it's going to be 'accessible' with no previous monsters. Makes sense not to force potential fans to know endless Who lore, but there's always a risk they ditch too much and it's just not 'Doctor Who'.
Still looking forward to it after the trailer though. Jodie has a nice edge to her. If they can bring that out in the scripts, it's going to be fun.
