Enjoyed that, though aware that you watch a new Doctor with a real danger of over thinking it. Visuals good, script worked.
Disappointed by the sonic out of nowhere scene which was a little bit too A-Team - they could have explained that (cannibalise the pod) a bit better - had hoped the new script team would have been better at avoiding deus-ex style quick fixes.
Jodie is doing a good job, definitely on the right lines. Hope she has a good run.
No problem with the inclusiveness stuff - doesn't matter what colour they are, I don't need a white bloke to relate to on TV. The rest of the message was exactly what Doctor Who is about - no violence, do the right thing, go exploring..

According to Lucy Mangan reviewing last nights episode in the Guardian, Sheffield is in West Yorkshire.
Just about sums up the Guardian these days.
My missus, who's not from those parts, once said as we drove past the crane hire place at Tinsley "I don't know what they are building there, but those cranes have been there years....."
My husbands cousin disappointed me a bit with a comment about the outfit choice.
I said I wasn't sure about the Mork and Mindy look. She said (and she is a massive Dr Who fan) said Who shouldn't be about what he/she wears!
I don't agree, the outfits have always been significant, esp early on and every Dr is remembered by how they looked as well as who they fought, who their companions were etc. I guess it is a fairly memorable outfit choice so that works!

)? Ripon? Wakefield?I like Jodie Whittaker, but in this episode, she portrayed the Doctor as a bit too wacky and zany, like David Tennant in his worst moments. Hopefully that is just re-generation effect and she calms down a bit in future episodes.
The script was poor and the monster a bit rubbish, but the main purpose of this episode was to introduce her and her crew, and in that it succeeded.

Why do you consider this to be 'right-on'?
My wife is Indonesian. My girlfriend before that was of Indian heritage and my long term partner before her was from New Zealand.
If I think of couples that are close friends:
English/Polish
English/Polish
English/French
English/English (one half there from Yorkshire!)
Dutch/Malaysian
English/Jamaican
Italian/Indonesian
English/Pakistani-Swedish
English/Scottish
French/Indonesian
That's off the top of my head....
Close single friends would be English, Jamaican heritage, half Indian half Iranian, half dutch half Jamaican, Indian heritage etc.....all of them live in the UK are very English and might get married (possibly not all of them...if I'm being brutally honest..).
Where are you living or what sort of life do you live where people from different countries or different ethnic backgrounds being married is even worth commenting on? Seems very odd in this day and age for it to even get a mention.....

I was scrolling through the comments thinking I must be one of the few that didn’t really enjoy it. The script was poor and the monster a bit rubbish, but the main purpose of this episode was to introduce her and her crew, and in that it succeeded.
The acting on most parts was good to very good although Bradley Walsh was crap. But I think what let it down was the script writing it just seemed very poor.
