Dr Who… Awesome News If You're A Fan
Discussion
It's behind you...
I really want to like the new series, but they're not making it easy. Prompted by the other posters above, I watched a few old episodes yesterday while they still have all the old box sets on iplayer. I started with Blink - what a great episode - a temporal conundrum and properly scary adversaries. This lead on to the other Weeping Angels stories, and then on to the Asylum of the Daleks.
In the middle of this I stopped to watch the new episode. There's just no comparison. The new one is just so lightweight, with too little character spread thinly between too many actors. It feels like it's written by committee to meet an corporate agenda, and completely misses the target for me.

Noooooooooooo, keep Bradley Walsh, he's the best actor out of all four of them!
No chance is he! He’s the worst. I think we’ve just created the Doctor Who Christmas special!
You know what? I liked this episode.
Was expecting one lesson from the story and they neatly sidestepped that, then a couple of nice little red herrings, some peril and some sleuthing to get to the end. Unexpectedly good, and I'm still liking The Doctor and her companions, individually and together.
So there's hope yet

Odd that people come on these threads just show how much they hate it. I stopped watching it three weeks ago...
...that's nuthin' I haven't watched it since Tom Baker, etc.
Episode was OK and the death of the girl was a bit of a surprise But PLEASE stop using the bloody sonic screwdriver for everything as it's getting tiresome. Also annoyingly someone posted on here it's like a pregnancy test I cannot see anything else.
We all know the step son and Walsh are going to be the best of friends by the end of their contract. I actually like Jodie but there needs some companion trimming to keep the connection and interest tighter.

This episode wasn't as bad as some, I actually stayed interested for a while but I was doing something else on the pc at the same time and listening to the sound only by the end of it. Jodie's accent is getting on my wick, so is Ryan's. I don't like Jodies's outfit, especially the short trousers.Seeing as the sonic screwdriver does nearly everything now why can't they get rid of the Doctor altogether and just give the SS to someone else photogenic with the instruction "whatever happens point this at it".
I fear the time is getting closer when I may not bother watching an episode but I'm not quite there yet. It will be a wrench to say goodbye if it comes to that but the writing is awful apart from the Rosa Parks ep and I'm getting sick of everything being in a Yorkshire accent. I don't know if the Daleks are going to reappear in this season but I can imagine what it'll be like if they do.
"ay oop Dalek, are thee reet lad?"
"Exterminate"
"na then lad, tha's in a reet two and eight today int thee. Ava cuppa tea or summat and calm thysen down a bit and we'll ha a natter. Owt looks better after a cuppa tea"
"Exterminate"
"Now sithee maister, there's no need fer that kind o talk and tha's heading for a reet old sonic screwdrivering if tha doesn't calm thysen down.

I don't "hate" it. However I don't like to watch something I love suffer in such pain, so I have stopped....that's nuthin' I haven't watched it since Tom Baker, etc.
(Compare and contrast with the "I've watched every single episode of Top Gear all the way through and every minute was rubbish" thread.)
I will continue to hang around this thread in the hope that the show recovers though.
Overnight viewing figures.
Episode 1: 10.95 million
Episode 2: 9.00
Episode 3: 8.41
Episode 4: 6.43
Episode 5: 6.12
Episode 6: 5.77
Episode 7: 5.93
Acording to this article: http://m.doctorwhonews.net/2018/11/demons-of-punja... appreciation scores are higher with women than men for this series. I wonder if that always been the case?
