For that to happen the series would have to change tone. At the moment it's all too 'lightweight'. For any real threat to be present it would need to take a u-turn into an altogether darker show.We need more episodes like The Library or Blink or Asylum of the Daleks.

If true, was it worth her bothering? They will have used up the next 12 regenerations in 4 years at this rate
With fast enough churn they may even find a decent writer within the next decade, although if it's true that the BBC pass the scripts through their "diversity amendment department" before filming what writer of any talent would want the job?Evangelion said:

I don't "hate" it. However I don't like to watch something I love suffer in such pain, so I have stopped.
(Compare and contrast with the "I've watched every single episode of Top Gear all the way through and every minute was rubbish" thread.)
I will continue to hang around this thread in the hope that the show recovers though.
...yyeeaaaahhhhh...I still have a micron of hope that Who will grow up one day (though I would prefer a wholly new programme I guess) , more of a forlorn micron though....but, it exists.(Compare and contrast with the "I've watched every single episode of Top Gear all the way through and every minute was rubbish" thread.)
I will continue to hang around this thread in the hope that the show recovers though.

Whereas respected long term Doctor Who fan and reviewer Michael from the Tin Dog Podcast likes the new series. Hmmm, random youtube bloke (*1) versus long time reviewer of all things Doctor Who (over 800 episodes...).(*1) and we all know that Youtube reviewers ramp up the hyperbole for the views and monetisation.
I liked that episode. I was expecting one of the usual evil droids/droids turn sentient/evil manager turning humans into droids plot get outs but it neatly avoided those.
Also had a few nods to previous who episodes and a tip of the hat to Terry Pratchett's thief of time which I felt was a nice touch. It actually felt like Who and not Quantum Leap!

As you know I have a major following within the fan fiction whoniverse .
There is considerable unease on the Level 4 writers board forum (level 4 you are invited to apply to join you don't ask to join).
In particular many fellow writers are finding it hard to involve so many companions. I was particularly struck by this when EC Throbber - one of the most highly regarded writers said he had decided to concentrate writing about the tenth Doctors incarnation.
His comments about "this bloody woman on speed" were quite shocking.
