Finished the last two 13 Reasons Why last night.
11/10. Just brilliant.
We watched the last two hours in anguished silence (lots of wincing and flinching), and then sat in stunned silence through the documentary afterwards.
I thought it was a complete masterpiece. Arguably it should be compulsory viewing (in a toned-down edit) for teenagers.
Kudos to Netflix for commissioning it and being brave enough to show it, and to everyone involved in producing it.
It has gone down a storm over here in USA.. schools are now studying it to safeguard their pupils and to give some realism to a very tricky subject matter.11/10. Just brilliant.

Neighbors have had kids come home with advice letters to parents about the issues depicted in this film..
Of course, the Americans cannot think for themselves, so need to get advice on just about everything from a specialist / shrink....
EDIT:
Bloody American predictive text... should say "Neighbours".

in one respect it is interesting but not sure how real it is depicted. a lot of the issues could be classed as trivial and this puts the whole context into a sugar coated dimension. on the other hand it may be true for most cases, I am not sure. I'm not sure it should be used as a tool for education as more debate should be given to the subject as a whole. I am also pretty sure more suicides occur in males over females. (just had a look 3.5 times). it is definitely a debating piece.
I've just started watching Thirteen Reasons Why based on this. Wasn't prepared for just how the story is being told and it's a difficult watch.
I've got a young daughter that is having her own challenges in school, albeit primary but got me thinking about how often to i ask her how she's feeling etc.
Certainly thought provoking but i'm enjoying the story and how it's unfolding. Currently on side 4.

Richard Branson's hot air balloon crossings of the Atlantic and the Pacific, edge of the seat stuff for an hour and a half.
Bloody brilliant.

Not sure how they didn't die!
It was all a bit before my time, so wasn't aware of the whole story...
Just finished 13 Reasons Why.
That was utterly brilliant. But utterly distressing at the same time. I found that very, very hard viewing.
Almost certainly attributable to personal reasons but ia gree that schools across the country could use this as a vehicle to kids that are struggling.
I haven't watched the documentary after it. Not sure i can.
Top marks Netflix for having the courage to show it in all it's detail and to the cast too.
I genuinely could get into the characters. Bravo.

I found the first few episodes a smidge tedious, reminded me of Party of 5 and Dawsons Creek in terms of a teenage angst drama.....that gave you just enough to keep going, the cast are very good and the characters deserve the commitment to keep watching. That was utterly brilliant. The way it ramps up and unfolds is really, really well observed and executed though. I was in bits towards the end.
And that's acknowledging that you're told the 'ending' in the first episode?!
Quality, brave film making.
