I'm on episode 7 of Mindhunter and really enjoying it. Just one question though, is there a reason the episodes vary wildly in length? They seemed to shave a few mins off each until you get to episode 6 with is under 40 mins, but episode 7 is back to being over 50 mins long.
It's the current trend, as there are no constraints on time slots, commercials etc. Each ep runs for the time it takes to tell the story.

1922 - watched it last night, not sure if I enjoyed it or not really - It was okay and I stuck with it, but I think the trailer made it look better than it actually was.
I watched this at the weekend, don't know if "enjoy" is the the right word. It's dark and a slow burn, it captured all of the gloom of the short story - overall good adaptation

its fantastic isn't it. No need to fill an episode out for another 15 minutes because they have a time slot on the tele, no need to build to suspense then cut back for adverts so you keep watching till the end. My God I fking love Netflix, my virgin is only on for sport now, I couldn't actually tell you the last time I watched something on normal tv now.

I've started watching The Stag.
Not really sure what I make of it to be honest.
Just 1 series so I'll stick with it but Hardly a classic.

Long Shot - Just watched a short documentary about a man who is falsely accused of murder and faces the death penalty. He is picked up on a witnesses sketch and that alone. But the night of the murder he's at a baseball game and has to prove he is there. On the night Larry David happens to be filming a episode of Curb your enthusiasm.... I wont say anymore but its quite amusing in parts, a bit sad and reminds me that the american justice system is fking scary. Not making a murderer but enough to pass 40 minutes.

Now up to Se1 Ep9 of The Good Place. Loving it so far. Very funny, very clever and Kristen Bell is delightful. I also really like William Jackson Harper as Chidi.

I started to watch this last night and thought it was the most dull, tedious awful pile of crap I had ever watched.
Considering quite literally nothing at all happens in the first episode then the very least it needs is decent characters and dialogue, of which it has neither.
Just an hour of listening to the most boring people I have ever encountered.
I cant begin to describe how much I hated this.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought Mindhunter was toss! The missus loved it, which is usually a massive warning sign for something being crap, unless it's a comedy.

Do you live in my house? My wife's approval is a 100% reliable bellwether for crap TV. Honestly never fails.

Scouts Guide To the Zombie Apocalypse, not highbrow as you can imagine, but well paced, snappy and above all, some really funny moments, excellent brain out Saturday night nonsense.

Admittedly a bit of a slow burner but certainly improved.

I'm up to episode 4 on this an I love it... I admit I'm do like the slow burn stuff but I can see why a lot will find it boring...
I don't need loads of action if the material is good (IMO).

I agree with you, but I think we fundamentally differ on whether the material is good in Mindhunters. I thought the dialogue was tedious, repetitive and pointless. I quite often felt like I was watching exactly the same scene over and over again and the characters seemed to be either completely monotonous or completely clichéd. I just despised every element of it. God, Im getting angry just thinking about the hour I wasted watching it. Let it go, BSR, Let it go.

Hence why I said I can see why someone folk will find it slow, as it is mostly dialogue driven. I think it's part of the journey the characters are going through, frustrating, not being able to move as quickly as they'd like because their superiors don't see the value in the work they are doing. I find it interesting, the subject... why serial killers do what they do, what leads then to do it. How they think....
Don't get angry BSR...as you say, just let it go. Whoo Sahhh. wink

It had its moments, we were doing the usual idle flicking so I just pressed on it, it is dreadful but did make us laugh, but we liked Piranha 3DD....

The Good Place is much better than I thought it would be after the 1st episode... I've watched all of them up to the most recent release now.

Wanted is proving to be pretty engaging too, beyond the accents and scenery, you can somehow tell it's an Aussie production...definitely worth sticking with so far..

I've watched it all and agree with you on Mindhunter.
1st episode was slow.
So was the 2nd
Then I found that I liked the fact that it was slow, and settled into all of it.

I'm reminded by the interview with Denis Villeneuve about BR 2049.
ALOT of films these days have an editing style of bam-bam-bam-bam-bam-bam (and he was clapping his hands quickly to illustrate)
2049 (and Mindhunter IMO) follows an older style of bam............bam...........bam.........

I enjoy the having both styles.
