Just finished the original BBC House of Cards. I thought I'd see it before watching the US series.

Glad I did. A great story.

I will start on the USA show soon.
The Netflix show is excellent, but be aware it doesn't finish properly. In case that affects your decision to start it.
I don't agree, the story could have continued but where it finished was a good point at which to end it.

It's excellent, get stuck in.

Manhunt: Unabomber

Thanks for the suggestions to watch this, just finished the last episode and really enjoyed it.

I also looked to see where he's locked up, there are some right nutcases locked up there with him.

Looks like I should have posted that in the unpopular opinions thread laugh

Don't get me wrong. I get the whole scarred veteran thing and that he shouldn't be Begbie esq one dimensional psycho (to use a wee man example).

It's just that I think the actor lacks the depth and gravitas for the role. Unfortunately for him, he has to share screen time with Sam Neill, Helen McCrory, Paddy Considine and Tom Hardy, all of whom act him off the stage.

(Very NSFW spoiler from s03e06 as a case in point) https://youtu.be/dEmydKXlSWU?t=1051

But it is a fantastic series and thoroughly enjoying it.
Helen McCrory is probably the weakest link for me. Awful scouse accent.

When you say 'finished' I'm assuming you mean purely in regards to Kevin Spacey?

For me the first 2 seasons were fantastic, after that it's trailed off a fair bit and got progressively worse.

Also don't forget there's Sharknado.

And as a bonus there's also Sharknado 2

Then Sharknado 3 for the afficionado..

... and they've also got Sharknado 4

and for the true film buff, Sharknado 5

Brilliant.

Flint Town - a documentary series about the city of Flint in the US. I didn't know anything about it before but am astonished a city could get itself into such a mess.

So, without giving the game away, is it loosely based on the BBC version just set in the American political system?

Am I to assume the end isn't he same as the last BBC episode I watched last night?

I wasn't aware that they were making some more, but following your post I discover that they are. I expect I will watch it but if it was up to me Spacey would be in it (I'm not into the witch hunt thing myself).

Great series. Staggering that a place can fall so far. Awful to watch.

Loosely based, correct, but whatever end the US version was going to have has been overtaken by events in the real world.

I wonder what story they're planning on creating to explain why he's not there.

How rubbish could it get? Died from a heart attack?

I might start a thread around how bad Designated Survivor has become, as a way of mitigating my anger with it.

It’s become like LOST. For some reason you have to keep watching in some vain hope everyone will die horribly.

I watched 2 episodes and thought it was average and clichéd. Didn't really get the hype.

The Good Place.

I'm sure it's been mentioned on here before but I couldn't find anything and I'm not scanning through all 200 pages now.

Comedy with Kristen Bell and Ted Danson about a woman who has died and ended up in The Good Place, where only the best people go. But something's not quite right...

I wasn't expecting much from it but found it actually quite funny and easy to get into since most of the episodes are only 20 minutes or so. Plus it turns out to be quite clever when you get to the end of season one. Maybe not quite so many laughs in season two but still worth a go if you want something light hearted.

The netflix interface is annoying. I find it doesn't seem to make finding the new content easy.
So we look online now then search for titles manually.
We've enjoyed a number of the previously mentioned series, but are also fans of the originals.
It's old now but still new episodes being made available.

I watched 'Godless' over the weekend. A 7 part Western about an on-the-run Outlaw hiding out in a small mining town populated almost entirely by women (the menfolk having perished in a mining accident).

Having double crossed/stolen from his ex-gangmates, they work tirelessly to track him down, The head honcho of the gang (played brilliantly by Jeff Daniels) promises to slaughter any man, woman or child who harbours him. There is a sense of anticipation throughout of an eventual showdown, in true Western style.

The whole thing was brilliant from start to finish. It really captured the atmosphere and all performances were excellent. I'd easily give it an 8/10

Well I thought it was a thread too many and two hours too long (the middle bit), but also thought it was well worth a watch.

Liked the music & cinematography too. Have a huge amount of respect for Jeff Daniels, and once again, he nails it.
