Thanks for the heads up on this. I'm a big Simpsons fan (more so the earlier years, mind!) so I'll be keen to see what this is like. It does, perhaps, spell the beginning of the end of The Simpsons?
They ran Futurama alongside The Simpsons, so not necessarily. I am a huge fan of early Simpsons but it's just a cash cow that's being milked dry and has been for years.

I watched Calibre the other night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Puts me off going to remote parts of Scotland though laugh
Not exactly remote, might have missed it but not that far from Glencoe. Cracking film though. I liked it.

Israeli TV series about an undercover ISF unit hunting for a Hamas terrorist, completely gripping and does not appear to be biased towards Israel or Palestine. Plenty of action, shoot outs etc so probably worth avoiding if you prefer something slower and not so brutal

  • Make sure its set to Hebrew with subtitles, mine defaulted to something else and the dubbing was awful
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4565380/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Gave up after four episodes. Third world acting based on the John Wayne method, poor direction, stretches the suspension of disbelief a little too far. The brutality is nothing exceptional, but the crudeness of the end product is. Perhaps all Israeli dramas are the same?

I worked my way through Good girls. Not to bad after the first few episodes but could have been better. It tries to get a bit darker and edgier on times but doesnt go there. So your left a bit disappointed. Should just stay a light comedy drama or go gritty properly. Easy watching though.

I thought the same but by the time I got to the second series I was hooked (I have an issue whereby even if it's crap I'm watching the whole thing)

The other one I liked is Mossad 101, again it has to be watched in Hebrew with the subtitles on but now I'm halfway through the second series I'm really enjoying it!

Anyone watching The Staircase?

No spoilers please - I’ve heard good things but struggling to keep me that interested and only watched 2 episodes out of about 12. Certainly no making a nurderer.

Also saw there was a 2 parter about the Oklahoma bomber - if it’s anything like Mindhunter or Unabomber I’d be interested.

Final Space - animated space adventure thing which I won't try to describe.

Much much better than you might think it would be from a quick look at the drawing style.
Tentatively started this, with fairly low expectations.

Ended up binging it over a couple of days. The funny bits are, and it has a really dark, hopelessness about it that's actually quite affecting.

Strong showing. Also like David Tennants turn in it.

The Defiant Ones

Mentioned in the thread recently mostly in replies to "Unsolved" but definitely deserves it's own mention.

Four part documentary (mostly) about Jimmy Iovine and Dr Dre but a fascinating insight into the music business as a whole with some stunning original and behind the scenes footage.

Everyone from Bruce Springsteen through Stevie Nicks through Bono through Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) features.

If you are into your music - this is well worth a watch.
Yes, one of the best things I've seen on Netflix.

Yes, stick with it and try and stay on the fence. The opinion on here is split.

The staircase is a good documentary when you watch it but a pretty terrible one when you read up on the case

I've finished it. Pretty good all round I thought.

As mentioned a few days back the way it's drawn doesn't give a clue to how dark it actually is.

Did seem a bit odd at first but it's actually pretty conventional, just mixes a few ideas together & the content isn't what you'd expect from what looks like it could be a kids cartoon - it definitely isn't a kids cartoon.

I do like the story fragment each episode starts out with.

I thought the documentary would be more focused on the racing history, but turns out to be mostly about Frank's personal life and relationships.
Pretty underwhelming and frankly a boring watch.
Also he comes across like a right dick!

whoever mentioned Brooklyn 99 a few posts ago (sorry can't find it) Thank you!

Took me a couple of episodes to get into it - but now I'm well hooked.
