Netflix - What gems have you found?
Discussion
Great Train Robbery: 2 parter, one from the robbers POV, one from the police's.
Written by Chris Chibnall, who's in the news at the moment as the writer on the new Dr Who (and also Broadchurch), we watched part 1 last night. Lots of familar faces, so we expected more than we got.
Maybe because it's a well worn story, maybe it was that the production had a couple of glaring errors (the 1980s Land Rover series III in 1963 really grated) but we weren't really hooked on it. We'll watch part 2, but I wouldn't go out of your way to see it.

it was on BBC originally, worth a watch but not great. Written by Chris Chibnall, who's in the news at the moment as the writer on the new Dr Who (and also Broadchurch), we watched part 1 last night. Lots of familar faces, so we expected more than we got.

To hopefully clear things up for anyone who is getting confused with who is who when it flicks between childhood and present time. For some reason the young Nell is not in this picture but she is the youngest girl who shares a room with Luke as they are twins
They do look similar as adults, trying to figure who was actual family and secondary etc.
Think a big issue is when they show the children stories, There is practically no scenes with them all in so its hard to tell they were all the same family once grown up.
The older son never appears in any scene with the youngest son that i recall..
Same with shirley who runs the morgue type thing. She never appears with the youngest daughter or the one who fingers birds with gloves on.

Drop Off (2014) James Gandolfini Tom Hardy . Slow to start and whilst the plot continues the movie really never gathers pace , Hardy is superb as usual , but doubt I'd watch again , 5/10
On UK Netflix?? Can't see it. tenohfive said:

It’s ok. The shock value is only at the start. It’s just a staggering story in general because of what the bloke was saying afterwards.
Watched this last night, pretty hard hitting, worth a watch, doesn't matter about comments here. When I first looked at it and saw it was over 2hrs I had second thoughts - but it actually flew by.. the first 20mins is tough viewing - obviously.
..I was somewhat surprised he was taken alive in the first place.., and how nobody gave him a good kicking during his arrest is also surprising (and probably why I'm not in the forces!).
Netflix make some excellent viewing.

Just finished The Haunting of Hill House. Very good. Some themes were familiar from The Shining and one of the seasons of American Horror Story, amongst other things, but given that it’s based on a 1959 novel, that’s probably forgivable!
Not slating it as I did enjoy binging it over two days when it was raining. But. It’s nothing a film couldn’t have covered and I’d worked out from the beginning re Bent neck woman etc. Still worth watching for anyone who hasn’t seen it as a good drama series. Steamer said:

There was a good documentary about it on sky around a year ago. Complete nut case. When I first looked at it and saw it was over 2hrs I had second thoughts - but it actually flew by.. the first 20mins is tough viewing - obviously.
