Dealt - a documentary film detailing an incredible close up card magician. Contains a big shock. Worth a watch but goes on a bit too long.
6.5/10 as he is an interesting character.
I came on to post this one up, I really enjoyed it, more of a 7.4 IMO wink

http://www.dealtmovie.com

I hadn't heard of Richard Turner or known what a "card mechanic" was before this.
I watched this but missed the big shock - what was it? It is a documentary about a blind 'card mechanic' so it can't be that he's blind :-)

Yes, it did go on a bit...

Yeah thats the suprise. You see some of his tricks then find out. I didnt read too much of the text before selecting the film so didnt see it so it was a *spoiler* to me.

For anyone that missed 'Broken' when it was on TV 2017, I see it's now on Netflix.

Can't recommend highly enough. Great writing and excellent performances. BAFTA for Sean Bean.

Thanks - looks interesting so has been added to my list

Incidentally, while looking for that I also found 'Made To Be Broken', about ultra runner Karl Meltzer, so that's been added as well - will report back!

Finished Titans last night, held my attention all the way through, and it was filmed in Toronto so could do a bit of spotting.

Good show.

watched the hulu Fyre docu, much better and more objective than netflix one, which itv seems was produced by media involved in publicizing festival in the first place.

Finally started watching The People vs OJ Simpson; been putting it off for a while as I ended up watching that 10-hour long documentary about the case a few years ago and didn't want to mix fact with fiction. Gotta say having watched the doc, it gives you a lot of good context to come into the series with. a few episodes in but already it's excellent. Loving the Rob Kardashian telling his kids off for wanting to become famous hehe

Made to be Broken - ultra runner Karl Meltzer attempts to beat the record for running the Appalachian Trail. Not especially insightful, but pleasant enough viewing

Escape Room - incoherent nonsense... avoid.

Thanks for the recommendation, watched this last night and it was captivating. I did wonder how this man had ever got into a position like this to get funding and peoples money. Then it all clicked that he had been at a con for a long time and it caught up with him. Living a fantasy world through social media. TBH 6 years seems quite tame for the states.
I agree. It’s a comment on social media and the influence influencers have on people. It’s a classic story about the power of advertising and consumerism and people wanting to buy into a lifestyle.

Fascinating to watch and well worth watching.

Watched 'Abducted in plain sight' last night.

Jesus that was a weird story! An extremely manipulative pedophile taking advantage of a very naive family.

I started watching Ted Bundy Tapes, very interesting.

Bloody hilarious. Awful indictment of our world, but hilarious.

I was also surprised at only 6 years. Especially given the parents of the people he embarrassed / ripped-off / put at risk will in many cases have been powerful and influential people.

How are you accessing hulu please? Through a smart DNS or a VPN?

(I don't really understand my own question. Please be gentle)

Haha. Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction watching it too!

I'd heard about the Ted Bundy tapes. Didn't realize it was out already. Will probably start that tonight. Loving all the true crime docs on Netflix at the moment.

Just starting watching Perfume, it’s in German with subtitles. An 8 or so part series, each episode being 45 mins to an hour. Quite dark in The Killing or The Bridge type scenario. A type of whodunnit drama and being an 18 certificate is quite graphic.

Sounds interesting, although the IMDB description saying someone had their scent "glands" removed is interesting. A gland being something that secretes.....there isn't really such a thing as a scent gland!

It was brilliant. One of my favourite programs of the last 12 months. Hope there’s a 2nd season.

Watched the first episode but the ludicrous English dubbing made it laughable, ended up turning the sound down and switching sub-titles on. Was the series you watched in German?
