I've been tempted to try Netflix but been put off by the lack of variety as regards to older shows. Looked at a full list of shows and films available within the UK and wasn't impressed at the amount of TV series that aren't available, rather poor choice. Netflix only has a few episodes of Only Fools and Horses, mainly from the later series; why can't they include every episode/series?. I've heard Itunes has some of the episodes. Other British comedies like Open All Hours and Last of the Summer Wine aren't even available - why?. I know you could probably find some of these shows on other streaming sites such as Amazon Prime, etc, but that means you're forking out more money just to watch episodes that aren't available on the one you're subscribed. Just another way of making money. And I suppose the studios aren't gonna lose out on DVD sales if people can get it on download.
Netflix can only show what other broadcasters such as they the bbc allows then access to and the reality is... it’s not about relying on only shows from broadcasters. They won’t last long doin got that.
The likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime are busy creating their own production series and movies using their own studios because the big film studios and tv companies are withholding material for their own streaming services

Yeh, if you want very old played to death on repeats type TV then Netflix probably isn't for you. It tends to be newer and fresher stuff.

I prefer the older stuff actually, despite them being played to death. Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc shouldn't just be catered for the younger crowd with their obsession for the latest "must watch", often overhyped show or film, but should be for all ages and want to see older programmes.

For anyone that missed 'Broken' when it was on TV 2017, I see it's now on Netflix
Watched this over the weekend. Superb performance from Sean Bean.

Polar - brillliant!

Fyre - what a clusterfk. A sad indightment of the world we now live in.

The Bundy tapes - compelling viewing for the serial killer enthusiasts amongst us.

Also one advantage of a streaming service should surely be to offer the complete runs of these shows, in order. Yes you could probably channel hop and find an old episode but that isn't the point.

No, it doesn't. Polar is huge fun, but it was like John Wick done on a much reduced budget, without the same quality of action scenes.

Matt Lucas as the bad guy was quite a good move. And Ruby O Fee, jeeze ....

This - if you're netflix surely yo pump money into content your average viewer wants?

Attracting an older viewer that is hard to attract anyway with content that social norms will slowly phase out anyway is rather poor business. Like it or not - shows from the 70/80's are going to age faster than a Jim Davidson stand up routine in this new era of SJW's and Metoo hastags.

I don't accept your assertion that stuff on Netflix is for 'the younger crowd', or that it's 'overhyped' - whatever that means.

I'm not exactly in the first flush of youth myself, and loved Only Fools and Horses when it aired in the 80's - but it's nearly 40 years old now and times have moved on.

There's plenty of high quality stuff on Netflix for all age ranges and there's really no need to lose your ability to enjoy something new as you get older.

Didnt like Lucas at first, thought they were having a laugh. But it worked out.

I almost didnt make it through many of Ruby's scenes. OMG what a stunner. And mostly naked too.

Indeed - my mum is 75. She loves all the new netflix stuff and is always asking for my fave shows.......she is not sitting down to stuff she last saw in a 1987 xmas special!

Given you only have a bit of life left at that age - why the hell would you!

Finished watching last night - its definitely got it moments of WTF! The court stuff and one of the judges.....

I'm pretty sure the court fiasco is what Tarintino used as the basis for the bulk of his writing in Natural Born Killers

Put this on a few days ago and at first with the introductions of the individual members of the hit squad being a bit like a comic book, I very nearly turned it off as I wasn't too keen, however I'm glad I stuck with it as I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It is based on a comic book apprantly so I guess that’s where the style comes from. Not into comic conversions generally. However, I’d compare this to one of my other favourite films of the genre, which is Kick-Ass. However it’s a lot more ‘adult’ and hard hitting.

I’d watch it again tonight.

In private without the rest of the family!!!! :haha:

An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn has been added today, I've added it to my list. It's the same director as The Greasy Strangler, and Aubrey Plaza is in it, so that's two reasons for me to watch it hehe . It was in some cinemas last year but didn't find it's way to my local. It's supposed to be just as odd as The Greasy Strangler, but this one isn't a horror/serial killer film.

I watched Season 1 and it was good. I don't know why I haven't sat down to watch Season 2.

I’d agree. Along similar(ish) sci-fi lines, Continuum is rather good, and they have all seasons available. They even knew it was being cancelled in time to give it a proper ending!
